From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Is diving gear recommended for the trench-side talks at the Friends Evening on Saturday?Or will a snorkle suffice?

I think that knee-showing has to be seen as showing historical accuracy - if it was good enough for the REAL Romans then it should be good enough for us! :P

online or distance learning courses?
Hi
I was looking to see what the Open University has to offer a few months back, and they are introducing an undergraduate module on 'World Archaeology' which covers - well, exactly that! It sounds quite interesting and can be studied as a stand-alone module or be put towards a BA Humanities.
The website is www.open.ac.uk if you want to check it out.
