From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Wow!
:D

Wow!
Thanks to everyone for all of your hard work. Keep coming back and check up on progress. And remember, post, post, post!! Everyone loves to see your pics of people, buildings, trenches and whatever else you got up to here at Vindolanda (within reason please!!)

;)

Some of the May crews. Add yours if it's not here.

Wow!
And there's even a corner (thank god)!

Wow!
Okay, Matt and company looked and looked while I watched from above!!

This is what we like to see, a team hard at work.

Wow!
We looked and we looked, and alas! The Antonine wall continues north!

(Who remembers finding the southwest corner in 2006 inside SFII? This is the answer on the north end)

Wow!
And the south end of site 29. Classic Vindolanda stratigraphy!

Wow!
Hey All! May was a super month of excavation. Of course, we must thank all those hearty troopers out here in April...hey wait, I think it was a beautiful April this year! Thanks to all the hearty troopers of MAY then. We got a lot done, so check it out, and for all of you June excavators, keep the pictures coming so everyone can see the developments as their darling trenches soon disappear in the name of progress!!

Here's Site 29 (strip house in the vicus)

The rain has found us!!

The rain has found us!!
:o

The rain has found us!!
Well we had gotten away with it for so long! Check out the trenches that you have all dug in the past two months. Thanks for all your work, but could you come back and bail them out now?!?! ;)

I promise, there IS an Antonine fort wall in here somewhere!
