From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Roman Britain novels - a survey
Think you must mean the signal stations or fortlets on Yorkshire's coast.

Filey, Scarborough, Ravenscar, Goldsborough, Huntcliff, query Sunderland.

Saxon Shore forts can be found around Norfolk and England's southern coast but not in Yorkshire.

Antioch floor mosaic
Typical! You get a good map and some person has pinched the relevant bit. Who says this is a 21st century trick?!!

Roman Murder Mystery
As I recall, it was found near the end of the season and thought to have been an animal....so should be interesting! Now to find someone who gets the National Geographic channel! :'(

From the archive
Badger.... I asked about that mound years ago and Andy's reply was that it was his Grand-dad's spoil heap. So you now know that a bit of Birley Family History got destroyed last year :D
