From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Pretty good Justin ! Obviously the water is reaching parts other liquids cannot reach? I think both hats in last weeks team photo deserve an award for bravery for their owners. How did they keep them on in the wind? Keep up the good work
Bryan :D

Glub, glub?
hi Harry have you seen the pictures of Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire? The 12th century abbey and the area around it is now an island with the floodwaters of two rivers surrounding it. The water is at least 7 feet deep. A quarter of a million people are without power and water in that area alone.
I live on the south coast and we have had an unbelievable amount of rain but thankfully not too much flooding, touch wood.
Have not heard anything from Vindolanda for a few days so hope they are not suffering too much.
Bryan :(

Excavations
I also must say that the flat caps looked good in the photo. If only we had the luxury of a video camera we could have done a song and dance act.

Excavations
Hi Tony I didn't mind the knees it was the chest wig which was a bit dodgy especially when the Chinese film crew arrived. :D

I just thought that I should post one or two pics from last May. The weather was hot but there was still some water around.
Look at that blue sky on my last day digging

"Now" said Sheamus "Can you young leprachauns whistle while you work?"

Or

"Is that the Vindolanda formation pick team?"

Or

"Which one of you is Happy?"

Sorry Kate I've just got in from work after 15 hours hard slog so my brain takes a few hours to slow down

Hi everyone I thought it might be fun to post pictures which could inspire captions, to cheer up these wet and depressing days.
To start things off, and here I must apologise to Justin, our master of area B
