From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

So what’s wrong with Severan Ditch Mud Brown? it could be a nice yellowish mud through orange to sort of dark blue mud brown. Oh! decisions decisions, life is difficult. Think I’ll have to go for White or Teal, is that green or blue? or maybe ……..

The house has a heather thatched roof, steeply pitched to shed snow and rain.

3rd Jan. Walking up the footpath on the east side of the Chainley Burn from the village of Bardon Mill. Vindolanda comes into view just before passing through a metal gate into a wooded plantation. Photo looking over the burn shows Vindolanda from the south.
