From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

We bought the book version at Vindolanda recently: The Wall: Rome's Greatest Frontier. Lots of unusual photos, a good chapter on Vindolanda and plenty of boxes throughout with really fascinating snippets of information.


Roman Britain novels - a survey

Attached is a list of novels set in Roman Britain, including ones other posters have mentioned (I'm a huge fan of Rosemary Sutcliff). And if you like Lindsey Davis, you'll probably enjoy R S Downie (Ruth Downie in USA). I've commented on some and asterisked my favourites.
