From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

You probably won't need a membership number. Nobody has seen the new application form but it should have some space to fill in the fact that you are already a Friend. I also got no confirmation but Fiona confirmed my status by email and the card arrived in yesterday's mail.

Fiona emailed me that my Friends application had been received. Not sure why I did not get an email confirmation. I think the system still has some bugs.

I shall be working at noon GMT (6am here  ) but spouse will be at the keyboard. Her prowess at finding ways to get me out from underfoot for prolonged stretches of time is considerable.

Yuck, I hate checking the spam trap. But nothing seen. I have emailed Fiona-Dame Fortuna Herself-and will also see if the credit card got billed. But the message I saw did not seem to go anywhere, I was looking for it...

btw, you should be able to start topics. I am able to on home system but not at work. Another blocking feature.

Somewhat similar concerns....logged on a few days ago and purchased a friends membership. Just to check to see if new passwords were needed, etc. It took my credit card info and all, then seemed to flash a message saying all had gone through. But no confirmation email or anything like that. I begin to have my doubts....

I hope that among other things it does not refuse to register me on Monday 'less I buy another Friends membership...

Like all software improvements, this seems like a step backwards.

Vindolanda on TV
Andy, it was the narrator who had the gaffe about auxilliaries from outside the Empire.

As to the weather it looked rather balmy. No snow. Drab mud and grey skies.......just like May in Northubria!

Drop them an email they will surely send you a copy on CD.

Lots of Roman re enactors marching about. I rather thought they had borrowed from the Eagle Eye film. Guess that means it was of equal realism.

Yep, put him on the Christmas card list. Quite well done.

I detected only two errors, one by you!

There was an implication that the men of the 4th Cohort came from outside the empire.
And, someone expressed surprise that there were no buttons found in the burial. Roman buttons?

But a fine effort. I can tell you from experience that anyone can be edited into lookin' good, with about a 100:1 ratio of film shot to film shown.
So, Andy, how many weeks did you work with them? :D

Remember the time zones here in the states. 8pm eastern. 7 pm here in the midwest. etc, etc.
