From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Area B photos - mid-July
Works as well for us non Facebook fossils.
And great stuff, the best Trench B pix of the year!
Expect to see them again in Harry's year end summaries.

A round house....who knew? Or do the missing straight sides make it an apsidal workshop such as was seen in 2008?

Blog post digging Area A early July
via preaetorium as it approached the north gate?

I recall digging some modern debris further south on that road and being assured by the wise that it had never been excavated before.

we wonders, yes we does.

'Area A'
Michael
On behalf of all of us who stood on those floor levels and wondered what the next layer down was....thanks!
I do hope the occupants had some kind of bed/mattress/hammock arrangements, sleeping on those floors would have been brutal.

Binchester blog up & running
And its worth noting that Binchester allots some excavator slots for members of the community, as opposed to Uni. students. My quick look suggested that the costs were reasonable and the definition of "community" was loose enough that some Vindo diggers who need another "dirt fix" might want to look into it.
