From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Noob question
Well, I understand this is year two of a five year plan, with next year therefore being 3/5. Of course, funding issues, amazing finds, etc can influence things. I am not privvy to info on how things will unfold, but if the plan is to compare life in the fort and life in the vicus, it seems likely that the next phase in the fort is excavation through conserved structures, which will be on a different scale.
As to when Justin will finally uncover the last cobble stone in the vicus, well, the supply of those appears infinite!
Yeh, next year, or at latest, the year after might be prudent.

Area "N" (?)
This big square building was not, I think, a surprise. Geophys showed something very much like it, and in the spring you could even "see" an area of possible walls in the turf. Speculation was running towards a temple.
