From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

How the site changes
Thanks Snowglobe.
I took part in digging that area over thoughs the 3 years. Last year, I was cleaning out the drainage system on the east, west road, & we were back filling that Severan roundhouse. It was deap & full of thick mud & water. Whilst emptying one bucket load, my best trowel went with it & inspite of Andy pumping it out, my trowel couldn't be found. Thanks to you, whenever I feel the need, I can pay my respects to a much loved & now lost trowel. RIP.
PS. At differant digs, I have lost several more trowels since then, but none of then loved as much as that one. It is also one of the reasons I only buy my trowels for about .50P from Car Book sales!

New BBC Report on Water Supply
That's a good report, it makes things clearer for diggers & public alike.
Thanks
