From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

"Area A" Team Photos 2010
Better late than never: here's 3 pictures of the week 6 team (9-13 May), taken on the last day.
Starting with Andrew's speech, the team-photo and subsequent guided tour at area B.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is the man who usually takes the pictures; it seems only fair to me that he's on one himself as well. Michael, if you take the pictures in order to avoid being photographed yourself, just let me know, I am sure this posting can be removed...

Either we got help from the little people...or this is Hazel standing further away than you would think.

Alastair's drain-work...

Two pictures from the roundhouse near the north gate.

The picture of the floor taken from the south; the other from the North-West.

The via praetoria where the trench uncovered the road's full width; photo taken from the north-east side.

I was wondering myself about these flagstones being worn or not. At least I could not see any cart-tracks like in the streets op Pompeii.
Since this road must have been used for decades or even centuries, I would have expected some of those.
