From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Session 11
As the season draws to a close it would be nice to see who's visiting and how many active Wediggers we have out there.
I would ask for a volunteers show of hands if I may.

Just click the "Like" button on this post. Don't worry we won't be sending out kitchen salesmen or anything!

Session 11
A couple of shots from April and today, incredible progress this year

Session 11
Nobody came forward for the roll call this session but now is your chance in the late summer limelight to post & tell your fellow diggers what's going on. I'm up for a visit this week so will post photos mid week. Requests taken, anyone want a view from a particular spot?

Hardknott roman fort
I found myself working in Eskdale this month (a tough job but someone had to do it!) so visited Hardknott roman fort, such a dramatic location high above the valley floor and well worth a visit

A view of the NE corner tower, no lower doorway so possibly entered from the rampart. England's highest peaks Scafell & Scafell pike behind

Looking east with Harter fell in the background, the fort and parade ground. The work to clear this area must have been hard work

Any diggers passing through the lakes feel free to get in touch I'm always up for a hike.

I'm hoping to visit the site on Tuesday so will add photos soon unless anyone on site has any to post?

Session 10
It may be Justin is on Holiday? I may visit the site this week if time allows. The best photos are from those excavating as the work is now far inside the visitors fence although some areas are being worked on near the north side of the excavation area. The flagged floor in Justin's tweets was quite hard to see from the fence.
