From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

A little advice if possible
Thank you so much for your replies and very helpful advice! I may not be able to
make it before going to actually dig but am on the very last week end of August
beginning of September so still quite a bit of time so may well do. I know exactly
who Andrew Justin and Kevin are so if the time looks right and I get up the courage
to do it I may well approach them!

Thanks again and hope to see you at Vindolanda sometime.

A little advice if possible
Hi all I am new to this site and also new to digging at wonderful Vindolanda! I just wanted a quick
bit of advice if possible. I am coming to dig for the first time in August and was hoping to perhaps
visit the site in advance of this. I wonder if anyone could tell me how easy it is to get up fairly
close during to the digging when it is going on just to see what is happening. The last thing I
would want to do is get in the way and feel awkward or whatever! I did visit the site for the first
time in May but it was at the weekend when of course there was no digging going on. Anyway
if anyone could give me an idea that would be great. Thanks!
