From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Week 9
Sorry for the delay to Day 5 digging, but have been driving around bonny Scotland all weekend.
We started cleaning the known gutters/drains with exception to the most westerly one, which was to wet to work on.
My drain in the corner although quite extensive defied all expectations and produced nothing except a few shards of pottery.
Ian and Marcels drain in the middle was the star with several good finds including a 3 legged cooking pot(minus one leg)
A couple of the girls were tasked to strip the top layer of the section between our drains only to find another large drain.
Hopefully a new team will continue to develop this area so we can work out what was happening here as Andrew and the team are scratching their heads at the moment.
Hope to see all next year
Paul
