From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Photo 5.
Looking north over the apsidal ended workshop. The complexity of the archaeology can be seen clearly here in the fact that 3 -separate phases of stratigraphy are visible. Latest is the last surfacing of the major east-west roadway visible at the far end of the photo. The apsidal ended workshop (wall and floor flags visible mid shot) lay beneath this, and under it, (just visible on the far right of the shot, lay the smaller cobbles of the earliest phase of the workshop.
