From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

First few weeks proving that we have a complicated area to work on this year. 4th century buildings that appear to have been occupied well into the post Roman era, an intervallum road which has been re-surfaced at least two times beyond the last Roman coin and pottery level, all sitting above an earlier 3rd century barrack block. Special thanks to the first crews as usual for their super effort and I am looking forward to welcoming more of you during what will undoubtedly prove to be an excellent season. The most important aspect of which is that we are continuing to gather the data required to address the research question, 'was the fort wall the great divide?'
