From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Week 11.

After surviving thunder storms, plagues of midges and baking hot sun (well for 10mins at least), things marched on in Area B this week. Roadways and their ditches continue to provide evidence for the infrastructure of the vicus and there was the emergence of several unusual and unexpected features too. Can we really have four different phases within 30cm of stratigraphy and in an area no bigger than 20m x 30m? What will the large mserious one sided wall turn out to be? More questions than answers this week, but that's archaeology at times for you I suppose.

Many thanks to this week's hard working crew who put up with my changing theories as often as my pants this week. It was great to meet and work with you all- some again, and some for the first time.
