From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

It's definitely a balance. A forum Web site that could show nothing would have little use. But one that reads like a treasure map would be irresponsible!

The range in values of Roman coins is staggering. Not to mention how easy it is or isn't to pinpoint just where they've been found. The blog one would be a hard sell; eBay and similar sites always have much less corroded versions of this emperor at fairly reasonable prices. Plus, its find-location is vague from the blog. (I've got a good idea, but I'm a bit of an obsessive.)

Still, I have an e-mail in to Andy verifying the thumbs-up/down on this one. For now, gut says it's still an "up."
