From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Today's digging was rather muggy, and the soil was quite soggy from the torrents of rain that plagued the land over the weekend. Quite a few interesting finds today, although the robbers trench that has been uncovered in the middle of the excavation leads to what I imagine is a rather large amount of hair=pulling amongst our brave supervisors. We also had a rather large plane fly fairly low to the site today (much to my delight.... see pictures below)

Here are some of the most recent (Same day fresh) photos of the excavation as well as Eddie, the resident warden at Hedley and true Scot, standing on his head over the Crag Lough on Hadrian's Wall, because why the hell not:
