From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.
Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!
Thanks for 7 great years!

Dear all Every summer the amateur orchestra that I play principal flute and Jo plays 2nd violin (Crosby Symphony Orchestra) with has a charity concert at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool. A few years ago they came up with an idea to help charities and organisations to raise some cash through a special ticket-selling scheme. Basically, for every adult ticket sold at £10 the Trust would get £5 and for every child ticket at £5 the Trust would get £3, all at no cost to the Trust. The concert this year is at 2 pm on Sunday 29th June (day after the Friends Open Evening) and our programme includes Copland's Fanfare for a Common Man, Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 2 with Martin Roscoe (its the one they used in the film Brief Encounter, if that helps!) and Holst's Planets Suite (you know, I Vow to Thee My Country and all that!). Seats are unreserved unless you want to be posh and book a box, but they cost more and because of overheads from the Philharmonic Hall, don't result in any extra cash for the charities. Both Andy and Patricia have given me the 'go-ahead' to invite you all to come to the concert - you've got plenty of time to get to Liverpool after the Open Evening! We ARE Capital of Culture this year, after all! If you would like further information or tickets, please email me on sue_munro_2005@hotmail.co.uk. Sue |

You've still got time to buy your tickets - the concert is next Sunday. it should be nice and loud and don't forget the link between Roman Gods and the movements in the Planets - you could almost say the programme was educational for diggers! So far i'm well on tack to preserving one leather shoe. Would anyone like to help me preserve a whole pair?! |

Congrats Sue! If the commute hadn't been so far, I'd have loved to have participated this year.
