Hi all! This space set for any & all details about the opening week of the 2012 digging season. Camera shots on the "So, How's the Weather?" page suggest dark clouds and drizzle. Hope the season has opened instead with good omens.

Fingers crossed for a great '12 and some great WeDig posts. It's all in your hands now.

Thanks to the diggers who have posted and sent in pictures. I'm glad the weather turned enough to get a few days in for the start of the '12 season.

Day 5 with lots of cloud and drizzle and eventually rain. The BBC local network TV (Look North) turned up as everyone was leaving the site (!) and a few volunteers hastily returned to the trenches for "background" activity. Various diggers were interviewed, including an Italian lad (nice touch) and someone who wears shorts. For some reason, muddy legs seemed to fascinate the Beeb crew. They may, or may not, be broadcast. We think the piece will be aired on Monday (no time given).
Only half a dozen or so pix were taken as the conditions were not good. One of them shows Andy and Norman in conversation with the TV crew. Pix on their way.
Now handing over to week 2. Good luck with the weather and the digging.

Has anyone got a group photo that can be posted?

I think Andrew took the only group shot before everyone departed. Not the weather to hang around!

Hi Andy
It would be great to have a full years diggers group photos.
As you're the only one to have one of week one, get us all off to a good start.

Hi
Have a few pictures of the first week's digging, including in the snow on Tuesday, but not sure how to post them on here!

Come to think of it, the pictures in the snow must be Wenesday morning before it melted.

Hi Bill, welcome to WeDig!

There are a couple options for posting pictures. The simplest is attaching them in the "Attachments" section that shows up just below the box where you type in the post. Here's a link with a step-by-step.

The pictures themselves won't show up on the page, just a link (that trick's reserved for lucky admins -- I wish they'd fix that). But folks who read your post will be able to simply click the attachment link to see the picture(s).

If you have any trouble, always feel free to e-mail me directly at text_style@hotmail.com. You're welcome to send pics to me and I'll upload them, with captions, for you.

Nice to see those knees back at Vindolanda Terry, I think that's the widest group photo so far. Looks like week one had fun.

Thanks for photos Andy.
They look the usual grinning, mad, wet, lot of diggers. Great to know the standard of diggers is not slipping. ;)
