Our area was pretty quiet on the whole, a few iron items (?blades, part os helmet), setercius, 20p piece(!), some fairly mundane shards of pot, a few nails.

My favourite piece was this fragment of what Andy and Justin referred to as 'pie crust ware'. There were a few chucnks of amphora in the same area but no more pie crust sadly.

Graham found this item in a room further down the trench. We thought it would make a great lemon squeezer, but apparently it is a piece of cheese press.

Anf a final set, including a rather cheeky little chaffinch outside the museum who joined us for a snack from the cafe!

Yeah, they did that towards the end of the week I think for fear of some of us being drowned if they got any fuller. It was a bit scary to see how deep they actually were, but I don't think the frogs and frogspawn were that impressed!

I hadn't seen anything like the pie-crust before (except on a Greggs pasty pre-tax...) and was disappointed that there wasn't any more. Maybe it's hiding at a deeper level.
