End of the season at Vindolanda. Thanks to all the WeDig contributors and of course to the hard working folks who had to overcome much adversity along the way. Badger Edited by Badger, Sep 13 2012, 04:24 PM.

Well said, Tim. In the same vein, may I suggest we also raise our glasses to Beth and Alex, and to the successful launch of the Vindolanda Field School. Here's to the continued success of all those brave enough to battle the cows in the North Field... |

Some MMXII musings from this side of the world, in no particular order. Two fantastic weeks (Fridays rained off), great company, some familiar faces, lots of laughs, wet shoes etc, North Field then the vicus, deturfing, pickaxing, finding a peice of flint and being so chuffed that I could hold the marker pole, meeting the delightfuln Canadians students, learning from Andrew, Justin, Kate, Beth and Alex and digging colleagues, walking the plank with multiple wheelbarrow loads,( being happy that I had done some weight training), lunch and afternoon tea chats with fellow diggers, icecreams (oh that Raspberry Ripple), the adventure of climbing Barcombe Hill in the rain on Friday pm (must do that walk in sunshine), the quarry and its graffiti, wheelbarrows falling into water-filled ditches, midges troubling lots of people (my Aussie skin must prefer mozzies),chatting with Justin about Rugby, admiring the accuracy of Vindolanda weather forecasters, yes lots of wonderful memories, my appreciation to all. One disappoinment though - my Week 10 and 11 photos - not worth posting, apologies. Do I say roll on November 1st? Regards, Kathryn. |
