As session three seems to be documented in great detail we shall break the weeks into two parts so as to lessen the scrolling required.

The official photo is taken each session. In a bit of a new twist a nice print is available for diggers to purchase.

A few more views from the trench at Detritus

And alas, many of us come to our final days on the Vindolanda site for this season.... whether the weather is distempered at our departure or is celebrating her freedom of us is a question that I can imagine many have asked over the years, without any real answer in sight.
I will miss the people of Period 3 whom I have had the utmost pleasure digging with.

We are really enjoying watching the new areas unfold since we found the beginnings of the amazingly long wall in session 2.
We hope to visit in a month or so to see the progress. Thanks to all who put up pictures, and Andy and Justin for the blog, it really helps us to keep in touch.

Yes - a big thank you to Badger & Snowglobe for all the great pictures this session - and I second the thanks to Andy & Justin for the blog - it's a great help to our understanding of what may be emerging.

Two weeks with effectively no time lost to weather. And a digging crew proficient at both excavating and at the Twicey quiz. It does not get much better.

Onward and downward Session Four.

Well, another dig at Vindolanda has come and gone, time at Vindolanda flies by.
What a great session this has been. Very little time lost to the weather and a lot of work done thanks to the efforts of the excellent team. Oh, and I had a lot of fun too, meeting old friends and making new friends.
Thanks to you all.

Some miscellaneous pictures:

- the washing of the finds is getting on nicely;
- Andrew's videoblog has been taken up a notch: two camera's, a director and a soundman...not bad. Anthea steals the show, though.

Heel hartelijk bedankt, Pierre! Good to have your company in the trench. Hope we can meet again next season, if not before.
And the weather can be better than this, honestly.....
