Sorry for the delay guys but I have been having a personal battle with my laptop and the wireless at the hotel I am staying at.
As Chalie mentioned it has been an interesting week and although we lost 2 sessions plus a full day on Wednesday the team has still managed a smile and a good amount of toil.
We had stripped back several meters of turf by Monday before rain halted us in the final session. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday saw us stripping back layers to reach the levels of the previous weeks.
Apart from the building on the Eastern rampart the only other structures appeared to be at the Western end of the site where Mark and I are trying to find some order to the jumble of stones discarded there.
Andrew's theory is that the remainder of the trenches are part of one big robber trench hence the lack of features between east end and west end.
Still the team working this ground were of hardy spirit and still managed a smile by end of week 1.
There were still some good finds and all are looking forward to week 2.
Paul

As charlie mentioned, really strange weather day today but the good news was no interuptions so a full day of digging.
Maybe a good omen for the week.
We also celebrated Justin's birthday today with cake all round during the afternoon break.

End of day 6 for group 4.
Trench is starting to show some good features on the Eastern rampart end, ongoing digging around the building and rampart in the first few photos.
Middle section in the following couple shows the robber trench progressing. No features but Sunny had a couple of good finds at the end of the day. An arrow head was also a good find in this region and the finder was pretty happy after the previous weeks frustration in this region.
Final few photos show the Western rock features. No firm decision on interpretation but it continues to provide some good finds.

Weather was pretty shocking over the weekend but still managed to walk some of the wall on Sunday.
A few photos to share.
Couple of cheeky blighters showing no respect for the wall.

Have added a few more views from site to back up Chalies post from today.
We have now got 80% of the "robber trench" down to a clay layer which we believe is the start of an earlier period.

A few more photos of the Eastern rampart workings. You can definately see some walls and lines starting to appear, continuing the previous weeks diggings

Sorry everyone but I have packed all my gear for my flight home. I will try post an update later today/ tomorrow. The water for the test run was from the flooded pit of last years dig. Andrew wanted to expose the roundhouse to do some more exploring there in the coming weeks and what better way to move it than by the recreated aqueduct.

Photos are a bit late but thought I would post them anyway as a starting point for group 5 photo progress.
These photos were taken at end of play on final day as Andrew was giving us the progress and site interpretation presentation.
Photo 3 and 4 give a later view of the photo Harry was trying to interpret.

And a picture of the "round house" in last years dig. This was one of the reasons the pit was pumped out. But of course the water was also used to trial the aquaduct after the construction was completed.
So that is all from me this year and I want to thank Team 4 for a great 2 weeks of fun and friendship.
