Scott, they use the BFH hook with the standard shank for a reason.
when the hook is tyed "correct" and use with a texas rig, it acts like a switch blade knife when you set hook. (so to speak)
on hook set the hook snaps UP making it nearly impossible to miss a fish that has sucked up the bait.

You are all so correct about the eagle claw hooks. There is nothing wrong with them if you know how to use a hook file. Some of the their hooks are dull out of the package. Eagle Claw hooks have been catching fish for many years before gammi was even though of. in fact I beilive that the harding prosses that gammi uses to make them so sharp cause the hook point to be britle.
I often have to sharpen the gamikatsu hooks I pour for my jigs during a days fishing where as eagle claws seem to hold the point longer.

double wide beavers are not the only way to catch big fish. The standard size beaver catches 10 poonders. Big bait is not always better. If you catching alot of fish on the small beaver, then step up to the bigger one.
