3 months out of the year remember you thought the plug was a stupid idea to.  mine is on its way dont ask me to pop ur fish , oh wait you got to catch fish first  ps dont forget to send me the info on sap you should also put a post or copy up here.

I am tempted to buy one but I know I will just loose it. Sunday I took a ride to new melones and picked up one for 7 bucks thats pretty nice. I only fished for a few minutes from the bank for trout so I do not have a bass report. The lake was beautiful. not too low. The water level is typical for this time of year. The fees are in place. it is 8 dollars flat to use the lake. this includes parking and OR boat launch. There is no fee to launch if you are camping. Seems very reasonable. The park ranger there informed me that 100% of the money goes back into the up keeping of the lake and its facilities. |

I guess I'll re-jack the thread back to deep fish: Went out to Melones yesterday w/ a friend to pre-fish for his next tournament. Like Jim said, $8 to launch, payable either at the gate if the ranger is there, or by envelope at the top parking lot w/ the restroom by the top launch ramp.(Tuttletown) The lake is only at 48% capacity. I didn't even know they had three paved launch ramps...Usually, two of them are underwater. 52 degree water temp in the morning, maybe warmed up a degree by the afternoon. We started in the main body and worked our way upriver. I had one about 1.5 and my friend lost one about 3-4lbs first thing. Both bites were in about 25-30 ft. Screwed us up a bit - made us think the fish were already starting to move up. We fished the next couple of hours without a bite. Then, we finally decided to fish deep. We found a bite off a steep rocky wall with a creek channel nearby. Started catching them pretty good at 60-90'. Shad colored worms or grubs, 1/8oz dartheads. Couldn't even say that it was a pressure bite. Most of the time you would lift up and just find something there. Couldn't get them to bite a jig, spoon, or swimbait. It was actually pretty darn good for Melones in January. The fish all had bellies on them and had decent size for spots. It's usually just a dinkfest over there. We ended up with a couple of limits apiece, best five went around 11-12lbs, biggest being around 3 and a half. We ran into four other guys all pre-fishing for the same event. Only two of them had fish, one had one small keeper and the other caught three. They were fishing 30-40' and in all day. The fish will probably start staging towards the end of Feb and be wide open from March on. We threw kastmasters and ripped for the last hour or so near both marinas just to see if reports of that hot trout bite were true. It might have been in past weeks, but we didn't find any and didn't see or hear any of the bank folks catching any either. |

I think Gee needs better ventilation when he's working that airbrush of his. I wouldn't be surprised if he told you guys I had bird flu. The crazy ENT actually told me I just had TMJ...Last I checked, TMJ doesn't quite jack you up like that. When/where is the Sapp deal? I'm going to try to make it. Depends on the day and when my last pt's/mtgs are. |
