Shane Perry Position Halfback Height 176cm (5' 10") Weight 85kg (187lbs) DOB 9th Nov 1976 Origin Brisbane, QLD, Australia Clubs Western Suburbs 1999, Bulldogs 2000 - 2001, Brisbane Broncos 2006 - 2007 Junior Club Brothers Holy Spirit School: Padua College, Kedron Shane Perry was part of the Queensland Cup playing for the Logan Scorpions in 1998, winning the Rothmans medal for best and fairest player that year. Shane Perry started out his first-grade rugby league career with Western Suburbs Magpies in 1999. Shane played eight games for Wests in 1999 as a five-eight. In 2000, Shane joined the Bulldogs to become a regular member of the 1st Division team. He received the opportunity to play in the NRL against St George Illawarra when Adam Perry was injured early in the season. Shane returned to 1st Division to play in the Premiership winning team against Penrith. In 2001, Shane was a regular member of the 1st Division team. In 2002 he joined Redcliffe in the Queensland Cup competition. Perry was brought into the Brisbane Broncos camp/squad to provide cover during the State of Origin period where the Broncos are traditionally hit hardest with extra playing duties and/or injuries. But Perry became the No.1 Halfback, when team-mate Brett Seymour had his contract with the club terminated. Perry's ability to complement captain Darren Lockyer on-field relieves some pressure from the captain. Perry's form continued to improve and he was part of the 2006 winning Broncos grand final team. Shane is one of the few NRL players that mix rugby-league career with a job. He has again got a call up to the NRL for the Broncos in 2007. |
