I know it's sometime off but was just wondering what time the Birchgrove Oval game is going to be? Not that it's going to be a hard decision for me but I presume that it's on at roughly the same time as the WT vs Souths game at the SCG?

Had the annual Australia Day picnic down there again this year and just kept on looking across the park thinking how good is it going to be to watch the black and white run over the turf. Hopefully I can take my usual 6 pack of Bundy and coke that i take down there for the A grade and cheer on the mighty maggies.

Early, I think 11:00am (maybe earlier) to ensure adequate time for people to get to the SCG.

Balmain are advertising the game as a 10:00am kick off (it'll feel like back in the U/10s).

There are supposed to be additional Buses running, canteen, merchandise, raffles, Unveiling of an NRL Centenary Plaque, a presentation, and then a relay from Birchgrove to the SCG with the match ball for the Tigers v Rabbitohs match.

There is parking available at Leichhardt Oval and other venues around the area as there is sod all at Birchgrove.

'From' 10am in the Tigers Leagues Autum Edition booklet.

It's good that it's early kickoff gives us time to get out to SCG also to watch NYC after a Magpies win. B)

Bloody big weekend that'll be. Sister's 21st night before, so i dare say i'll be nursing a hangover as will majority of the family as we've got the tribe coming down from Cobar and Casiliss and we're making the trek to Birchgrove and the SCG to see Wests win in all 3 Grades, then back on the drink. 9.30am? i don't think sleep will be happening if that's the case! "Na Na Naa, we're Beering Again!"

A ex Balmain player told me the game is on at 11.30am. They will then be bused to SCG in time for the NYC game at about 1.30pm.

I guess we will find out the exact time closer to the day.

Something will hopefully be organised to enable all fans to get to both venues without relying on public transport.

Ah such cynicism.

We got some more details from Balmain on this last night. The game is set for kick off at 10 with some pre-game ceremonies and stuff for the kids like jumping castles from 9. Balmain seem to have done a great job with this one and it should be fantastic celebration.

I'll post some more details tonight (don't have them with me at work).

Ha, thanks for putting that up Galahs.

As noted free entry and a 1/2 time kick with the legends on the field. Balmain, Wests and Wests Tigers will have merchandise stalls, with these and Jumping Castle, Ice Cream, Balloons and Face Painting open from 9am.

At 9:55 Dave Trodden and Kevin Hammond will make the official welcome on behalf of the two clubs with the game set for a 10am kick off.

At half time all the fans will be invited onto the field for a kick of the footy with the stars of yesteryear.

At the end of the game there will be a trophy and Commemorative Medal presentation to the teams.

11:45 will have the plaque unveiling to commemorate Birchgrove Oval as on of the birthplaces of Rugby League in Australia.

After that will be an NRL presentation and start of the relay.

Between 12 and 1pm will be a chance for fans to get autographs.

There will be additional portaloos (20) to cater for the crowd. There will also be 2 catering vans providing Coffee, Tea, Cold Drinks and limited breakfast menu.

Sydney buses are looking to provide extra services from Mary St (near Leichhardt Oval) through James St, City West Link, The Cresent, Victoria Rd, Mullens St, Rowntree St, Cameron St arriving at Grove St for drop off. Leichhardt Oval will be used as the major car park. Catch the bus down to the ground from there.

Balmain should be congratulated for their excellent work to make this day something very special. Not to be missed.

Very much a joint celebration. Balmain are organising this one and we're organising the return at Pratten. Both clubs are very excited about both events and are keen to make them both live long in the memory. Plenty of greats from both clubs will be on hand.

We'll of course remember them mostly for the victories ;)

But seriously as I've mentioned before Balmain have been fantastic and did a great deal to help make the Pratten Park day happen as well as organising the Birchgrove game. It should be noted and appreciated by all Magpie fans.
