Why couldn't the the team tackle at Henson ? Seems to be happening for years now and still nothing has been done to fix it. Team looked poorly coached defensively last week and in the 2nd half against the Bears. 108 points conceded in two weeks. The halves aren't functioning well. Doesn't look like they know any set plays or any regular ways to make metres. Are the players adapting to Leo's structures ? Does the team have all the necessary training facilities ? What will the excuse be this season if the team once again brings home the spoon since they have the WT players back, have imported decent players, have supposebly sorted out training facilities etc I know it's only two games, call me negative all you want, I hope I'm proven wrong, but I can't see any difference in this years team to indicate they will be any better than previous years. Discuss or rip me apart.... |

I wonder if Wayne Bennett will offer to help us out next year? ![]() The boys really better make up for that lack-lustre effort this week and I'm sure they will. |

Tough task ahead for Leo, that's for sure. But a number of players he's currently coaching in his squad did make the step up from Flegg last year did they not? Hence, would know his Coaching style and methods? Yet still no response? It's Round 3 this week. I'm not hitting panic stations just yet, but a good start it crucial, especially for a team that's copped more splinter's from Wooden Spoon's than any other since 2000. There is talent in the ranks. It's time they did some soul searching and instilled some pride back in the Black and White. Attitude and focus can go a long way. C'mon Maggies!! Fire up....Get a bit of mongrel back in yourselves and in the Black and White Jersey. Your backs are against the wall, you've been written off again by opposition clubs and to an extent your own fans. If that's not motivation to dig deep and rip in, i don't know what is...there's nothing more humilating than not having the confidence and self belief from your own supporter base. |

Yes, a bitterly disappointing effort but there are a few things to remember: * Rocky Trimarchi was taken to Townsville as extra baggage * Dean Rysko was injured in the first 5 minutes, which left 16 players for the rest of the match * Newtown are a very good side. They comfortably won all 4 trials they played and dusted the Cronulla Cobras by 30 points the week before in Round 1. The Cobras at home this weekend will be a chance to atone for last week's sins. |

Something very noticeable is that the winning percentage over the past couple of years has been very poor when the current halfback has played at halfback. I know he`s a great club man and always gives his all, he goes ok at hooker, but not the dominating type halfback that the side needs imo. |

Nathan isn't the half back of choice, but more of necessity fill in atm. And yes, he is a great Clubman and I hope gets rewarded with a well deserved NRL jersey sooner than later.

Joey Johns couldn't do any good behind a pack that wont get off the line in defence. If we stay at the line and wait for bigger and stronger packs to run at us then we are always going to be back pedalling for the whole game. Then when we do finally touch the ball we make mistakes because we're too buggered. The 1st half against Norths showed that we can attack and do it well but we haven't touched the ball since. Davis and Gallant can score tries but we have to get them some ball moving forward. It's a team game but Flanno has a huge responsibilty out on the field. He's the one who should be leading them up at a quicker pace in defence and getting his runners to hit the ball hard at the line, not 3 metres behind it. And it's no good telling them to play for the pride of the jersey or the supporters. There's precious little of either. They have to play hard for themselves or their careers as footballers are over. Simple as that. No ones going to pick anyone up from a side that gets thumped by 50 every week and we wont keep them. As for Leo's structures....shame we couldn't keep Willis. |

Good to know you have a level head gr8_1. I dont know if you guys know what is going on with toa but the club is holding him to a one year option they had on him, and as yet he hasnt played any comp games. The club offered him a pitiful amount, i think 4000, which fair enough if they could not afford more, we all know times are tight. But why stop the guy from going further in the game by slapping him with a $10000 development fee that not to many clubs would pay for a player who hasnt played any first grade. Especially when all his contract ever with the club add up to way less then that. And now that they need a new prop, as someone got injured, they sudenly have the money to offer him more? Speaking to him tonight he was over the moon with wests game tonight and still wanted all his old mates and even his old coach to go well. But do you blame him if he didnt want to come back to a club whos management didnt REALLY want him and are trying to stop his further development. Plus he is training with first grade at newcastle and was never offered that at wests. Sorry for having a cry guys but hearing how down he was tonight becaus he couldnt play today and the posibility of having to not play NSWcup this year, it really pisses me off. And just to let you all know toa wasnt showing any of the above anger towards the club, all of the above is from me. I dont get how the guy doesnt get angry about things like this, if it was me id be knocking on doors and taking names. |

Development fee ? What is that ? Didn't even know it existed. I know in soccer they exist, but only paid when a player is let go when he is still on contract to another club. Sounds a bit harsh though for the club to hold him back from playing for the Knights if they didn't want him at Wests. Toa from what I seen is a humble young man who always gave his best for Wests. Bit of a situation it seems...... |

Toa is a deadset champion! Their is a touch of controversy around the payment of the development fee issue amongst clubs atm. With so many NSW Cup teams breaking away from their NRL teams (Parra-Wenti, Newcastle - New Central, Sharks- Cobras etc etc) the issue of who has to pay the development fee based on being an NRL or lower grade club etc. NRL teams are using these "dis-franchised teams) to get players in under the development fee radar. I have have no idea what the issue with Toa's release is, but it is a shame he is the one who ends up suffering. He's a bloody great bloke, and based on his smashing performance against the knights in 2007 at Newcastle, I am not surprised they wanted to pick him up. Whatever happens, and I along with my magpie mates, hope he can again play sooner rather than later. We all wish Krakatoa the best Magpie forever!

Don't know the ins and outs so won't comment too much but lets give the bloke a shot at Newie and hold true the statement "pathway to success". If he isnt wanted by WT's why expect him to play NSW CUP for peanuts. |

As is usually the case there are two sides to this story. It wouldn't be fair on anyone to be airing dirty laundry here, but suffice to say I think a resolution of the issue is being worked on that will hopefully satisfy everyone. |
