Back to the topic - I agree with Craig. Just seems that there is a "its ok to lose" view for some players. It's been happening for so long now and it doesn't seem to be any change in attitude. The coaching staff really need to start motivating these players more and making sure they are made aware that it is a honour to play for the club not a right ! FIRE UP !!! |

I'm sure players that played under Coaching era's of Masters, Ryan, Raudonikis never laughed after sustaining a loss not to mention losses' of 20 or more point deficit's. I remember venturing into the sheds one day in '98 and the look on Cherry Mescia's face said it all. He looked as if someone had died in his family. This is extremely disappointing to hear. Where is the pride in the players, club and jersey? Because it seems and sounds like there is none in the NSW Cup ranks at Western Suburbs. Something Coach Leo spoke to the members at the recent AGM about, is yet to be seen.... Let's hope Wests Tigers show more pride in the Jersey tonight against Penrith. Then maybe the NSW Cup squad may learn a thing or two regarding self respect and pride. |

Does our State Cup side ever attend joint training sessions with the Wests Tigers. If not, I think that would really benefit our players.Thats probably the one of the major draw backs of our club. We don't have a tight knit family that stretches from Matthews to NRL. |

I wish all the players had the desire and committment that Gallant has and shows on the field. The little bloke is all heart and hates losing (and doesn't he blow up bigtime when the opposition score!). He and Waters have been the constant in recent times. They deserve better. A couple of the younger players that I have spoken to talk up the affect big Harvey Howard and Junior Willis have had on them in recent times. In terms of training, game development and motivation. The club should try and get big Harv & Junior working closer with ALL the players. Though might be a bit hard for Willis with his NYC committments. |

but what about the Wests Tigers? were they laughing when they saw the team listed for the Canberra game. Farah at half, Moltzen at centre. Is anyone questioning Coach Sheen's team selections? |

I am  Fair dinkum.... Sheens' persistence with Morris in the Halves be it at Halfback or 5/8th is comical. And now he's using the most dangerous hooker in the game who dominates and controls the attack from the ruck out of position, who is surely still no where near 100% fit  Wests have not had a halfback since Prince left and have done nothing to compensate or fill the void except to try their best at creating a makeshift pivot which continues to fail. No structure, no direction, no cohesion. Could be a very long season afterall....Unless Mathew Head is injury free and given a chance to prove his worth. I would have rather seen Hodgo (in attack) and Fulton in the halves then to see Farah shifted. I'm just praying that the team Coach Sheens has named runs out completely different come Sunday, otherwise we'll be holidng hands with the Bunnies. Team selections via playing available players out of position is really hurting Wests Tigers at the moment. It was painful to watch the team have absolutely no idea in attack Monday evening. |

I'm starting to think that WE would be a gr8 motivational tool to be used for good instead of evil! after all the 'coaching' and 'inspiration' a few of us provided from the sidelines last saturday - there's no telling the good we could do off the field! sometimes i think that we have more belief in our teams than what they have in themselves. that saddens me somewhat, but i know that we'll never give up on them and will continue to encourage at every level we know how - maybe they should take a 'guided tour' of this website for a bit of inspiration! what do ya think boyz? show them that within us all beats the heart of a mighty magpie!!!

if Matthew Head's knee won't stand up to NRL football, maybe it's time to give Waters or Wayde Dunley a go. Has Shannon Gallant ever played half? At least he has speed off the mark, and his kicking game couldn't be any worse. |

enough's enough ... Everyone complains about the players seeming to be happy to lose but I think everyone on here is exactly the same. Waters being a great club man and all heart doesn't mean he is a good player. Cant pass, kick or tackle but he sure does try. We aren't going to win without changes to the team and keeping players which are very OVERRATED or picking a team due to a loyalty factor is a recipe for failure ... time for the selectors to open there eyes. And whats the point of having nua alone out there when it seems hes playing on one leg? |

I will if he doesn't pick his best available players in the right positions. and it will be justified through the poor form and results. the damage will speak for itself through poor form and team selections if players are not chosen in the right positions. It's a simple equation. Specialists players play in their specialist positions for positive results. I was waiting for Head to be axed in favour of a fit Farah for the last fortnight (which was a high probability of happening, thank the good Lord it didn't eventuate). Sheens would play Farah at Half, which any person who has half a football brain would tell you is ridiculous, as Farah is not a halfback's bootlace, and has proved that time and time again when utilised in the pivot position. It's common knowledge. It's a cardinal sin in Rugby League. You do not shift specialist players from their positions in order to attempt victory. Because that just leads to another area of weakness. Morris and Farah are Hooker's. Nothing more, nothing less. Coach Sheens would be better off blooding an actual No.7 than filling the void with a makeshift pivot that will do more harm than good. Mathew Head is proving his worth massively. He's provided Wests with direction and an attacking structure, something that hasn't been seen for a good 18 months over the '06-'07 seasons. And he will only get better as he gains more match fitness, and strikes up a solid rapport and formula with Hodgo, Farah and Marshall who will undoubtly take a tremendous amount of pressure off his shoulders allowing him to run the show and lead the team as a good 'specialist' halfback does. There is absolutely no method in Sheens' madness if he does no opt to utilise Head as Wests Tigers first choice and primary halfback in favour of Farah or Morris. All that will lead to is a spiral down the ladder. Head in the 7 and go from there. Head at Halfback First, Daylight second. |
