I know why we won. I see a photograph of Noel Kelly in your collection. I suppose the guys were too "scared" not to win when The Man was there watching. Ned looks like he could still thow a good left and right combination. Love the photographs by the way Andrew. |

I would love to have heard the "Pep Talk". I bet Ned's fists were closed and he had a snarl on his face. That would have done it for me. |

And good luck to you Graeme. Great to see the boys give you a great sendoff. Have some photos from a distance of "the cheergirl singers" at the end of the game. When I get home I'll see what I can do bout sending you some. What a great day. Gives the maggies a high bar for the long weekend. |

No mate didn't meet. And yeah I heard the cry. I think we all had a great day. Those that missed Birchgrove will rue the opportunity. Was one of the days that will be talked about for years and rightly so will claim its place in the history of both clubs. |

How bloody great was that???? What a privilege it was to be at Birchgrove Oval today to see the Magpies stand so tall and proud. I thought Wests were so "professional" in everything they did today. The fact that the Club made the effort to get replica 1908 jerseys, shorts and socks made up for the players showed great respect for the occasion and the team. Then to get the jerseys embroidered with all the important details of the day was a fantastic touch. Finally, to have the players presented with their jerseys by the living legend himself, "Ned" Kelly, was outstanding. It was no wonder to me that right from the kick off Wests just looked so committed and determined. There is a lot of talent in this team and today it was mixed with belief and that made all the difference. The team's effort today paid great homage to the many wonderful men who have played in the Mighty Black and White jersey for those 100 years (and wasn't it brilliant to see so many of them at the game). Every one of those young Magpie men on the field today have given themselves a very special memory that is theirs to keep forever. For those of us lucky enough to be there to watch them, then we too have such a memory and I thank the players for that. What a great day to be a part of the Western Suburbs Magpies family. |

This is a rare glimps into the dressing sheds after a very historic Magpies victory. So if you ever wondered what it felt like to be there to sing the team song.... you now know!
If you want to download the file for yourself, get it today only from: http://www.westsmagpies.net/files/wests_20080420.mov It requires QuickTime to play. http://www.quicktime.com |

I think there might have been up to 5000 people there. The end score isnt symbolic of how the game went. The score was 36-12 with 16 minutes to gobefore we let in a couple of tries. We dominated the game except for a 10 minute or so laps. What a sweet victory it was leaving the Balmain supporters having to come up with old stats to make them selves feel better. Great game by the players, lets see this continue + we will have a huge season.
