Don't know who scored the first try (couldn't see past the coffee van), but Aker definitely scored both second half tries. |

Yeah, Mick was the first one i saw upon arrival - told him orange/black wasn't his best look! John Cogger in fine form - and scored a try too - mightily impressive Johnny! thanks to all for organising Sunday, and to all those who worked behind the scenes - gr8 sausage sandwiches Mrs Carter! - atmosphere fantastic, and our very own glue pot to add to the nostalgia! agree with yr comments on Daine Laurie - he's an exciting player to watch, they just need to feed him some more ball and watch him charge thru! Idea of doing annual Pratton Park and hopefully Lidcombe Oval match would be brilliant! can't wait to hear more on that one as things progress.... See you all at Campbelltown on Saturday 3pm for our next victory....!!!! Den

Thanks all to everyone who came and made the day. It did take a fair bit of organising to put it together and special mention should go to Ron Powell and Dennis Burgess who had to put this and the Black and White Ball together at the same time. I was a mighty effort by those two directors especially that gave the club two great events to celebrate the Centenary with. You would have seen all of the rest of the club's directors and many of their wives also working on the day as volunteers along with our other fantastic volunteers. Thanks to all the former players who came to the day. To see TC in a black and white jersey again made my day. And how good is Bill Keato? Legend! Also special thanks to Ashfield Council, the local Soccer association and the Pratten Park canteen lessee who all made a great contribution to ensure the day was a success for us. Of course we can't forget Wests Leagues Ashfield either for their assistance with staff, parking, shuttle bus and a thousand other little things. Lastly thanks to you supporters for not only coming, but putting your hands in your pockets. It was the biggest ever single day sales for Magpies merchandise (almost twice as many sales as we had made the night before at the NRL match which was in itself a very good night) and the very successful sausage sizzle and refreshments van ensured that not only did the club enjoy great memories, but also banked a healthy surplus to help keep the club going and growing. |

Who was the big dark guy with the dread locks for us? He seemed pretty willing to have a go, in my opinion? As everyone has already said a bloody great day all round... I will be keeping my eye in this Forum for a repeat performance (visit to Sydney that is) all I need to do is keep in the good books with the ball and chain etc and I'll be there.... Fingers crossed. |

He certainly wasn't too frightened to put his hand up for more work. |

Had a great chat with Tim Sheens, and he has plans for Daine Laurie. He WILL get an opportunity. Just needs to do a lot of work to get up to NRL standard fitness-wise, but Tim is aware of his situation, and will help him along. |

I hope so. He reminds me of Cashy in some ways. Just a big unit that will get in there and make a run into the heart of the defence when we need some go forward. Hope he turns out as good as Razor, but doesn't need to leave to get there. |

Great article in Rugby League week about the big unit about a fortnight ago, how some have referred to him as having a Sonny Bill Willams impact when at full fitness, rating his ability to change a game very highly. He's got the size, strength....that's for certain. All he needs now is fitness/conditioning and a little bit of guidence by an experienced mentor. And who better than Tim Sheens. Work on his defensive technqiue, educate him a little about the dynamics and science of a running forward, he could be anything. I know one thing, he'll bring about some much needed size to Wests Tigers. Good that Coach Sheens and Wests Tigers see value in the big man. |
