Weekly television coverage of NSW Cup will happen every week on FOX Sports in 2009

Fox Sports will broadcast a NSWRL program which features a NSW Cup match of the day and comprehensive highlights, statistics and previews from the VB NSW Cup and Jim Beam Cup.

NSWRL General Manager Geoff Carr said the magazine-style program, which will air each Wednesday at 5:30pm, would showcase the strengthening standard of the NSWRL's two major competitions.

"It’s also very exciting for the teams that are participating because it will obviously give some assistance to them in attracting sponsors" Carr said.

NSWRL SHOW TOPS RATINGS
Thursday, 14th May 2009
Top viewer ratings after the first eight rounds of the 2009 NSW Cup has seen the NSW Rugby League Show on Fox Sports elevated into a prime-time Wednesday night timeslot of 5.30pm.

Fox Sports has confirmed the switch – from 5pm – after Sunday's NSW Cup clash between North Sydney Bears and Shellharbour Dragons provided another ratings boost.

In a sign of the popularity of the NSW Cup competition, the NSWRL Show – which incorporates a match of the round with highlights from both the NSW Cup and Bundaberg Red Cup – has recently doubled the ratings of the Queensland Cup's equivalent television show.

As a result, starting from next week Fox Sports have moved the NSWRL Show to a 5.30pm starting time where it will stay for the remainder of the season.

NSWRL General Manager Geoff Carr said matches involving the NSW Rugby League's foundation clubs including North Sydney, Newtown, Balmain and Western Suburbs had provided the best ratings.

"The NSW Cup competition is the only comp in the sport that gives viewers the chance to see foundation clubs in action every week," Carr said today.

"The NSWRL Show has done a terrific job of showcasing not only these teams but all clubs playing in both our elite competitions."

Mr Carr also acknowledged the ever improving standard of play in the competition and the excellent work of the NSWRL Show's production crew Power Productions for the show’s positive results.
