WEST’S MAGPIES MID YEAR GOLF DAY – THURSDAY 13 AUGUST 2009.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to seek your support for Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club’s ‘Mid Year Golf Day’ which will be held at Camden Valley Golf Resort, 810 Camden Valley Way, Catherine Field on Thursday 13 August, 2009. As you are no doubt aware, West’s Magpies are one of the foundation clubs, entering the competition in 1908 & we have fielded teams in each & every season since then. We have a very strong & proud history with events such as these providing opportunities for our players to realise their goals. As an example, Brett Hodgson, Ben Roberts, Ryan Hoffman, Stuart Flanagan, Isaac de Gois, Luke Covell, Rocky Trimarchi, John Skandalis, Chris Lawrence, Dean Collis, Bryce Gibbs. Peni Tagive, Shannon Mc Donnell, Willi Mataka & Shannon Gallant, all West’s Magpies juniors, have gone on to play in the NRL competition for West’s Tigers and other clubs. This has to be a record for any club.

We have been running this event for the past 10 years and as in the past, all monies raised will be used to develop junior rugby league players in our District. West’s Magpies field teams in the Harold Matthews, SG Ball and NSW State Cup competitions as well as a number of junior development teams. Whilst the other competitions have been finalised for the year, our State Cup team finds itself well cemented in the top eight of the competition.

Our last match, in round 13, was held on Saturday 20 June 2009 at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. Our opponents were our joint venture partners in the NRL competition, Balmain Tigers. I am pleased to report that in front of a good home crowd, West’s Magpies ran out comfortable winners 26 – 4. We have high expectations for this team and hope they can go one better than 2008 at which time they reached the finals.

Please find attached an information sheet setting out details of the day. The packages offer great value with fantastic prizes. I hope you can support us. The day starts with breakfast and registration from 7.30am. For further details, please contact Steve Reeves on 0423 454 661 or Mal Russell on 0409 246 250.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Kevin Hammond
General Manager

THE GOLF DAY WAS A SUCCESS, A FEW MAGPIE VOLUNTEERS ATTENDED ALONG WITH VARIOUS CONTACTS. ALL HAD A GREAT TIME. PRIZES WERE SENSATIONAL, SO WAS THE FOOD AND COMPANY. THE LEGEND NOEL KELLY IS NOT A BAD GOLFER, PERHAPS IF HE HAD NOT CHOSEN RUGBY LEAGUE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A WORLD CLASS GOLFER. IF WE BOOK THE DATE EARLIER THIS TIME (FOR 2010) PERHAPS YOU COULD PENCIL IN THE DAY OFF WITH THE BOSS, FLEXI DAY OR WHAT EVER.

Wests Magpies 2010 Golf day. BOOKED FOR THURSDAY 12 AUGUST 2010 - Whilst it has been booked at the Camden Valley Golf Resort, it will probably be played at Camden Lakeside, which is on the corner of Camden Valley Way and Raby Road. I understand that Camden Valley has been sold and they are taking over the other course. PLENTY OF TIME TO SORT OF A RDO OR OTHER MEANS OF GETTING A DAY OFF. :magpies: :correct:
