If you can recall the gate price was $8 last year. The group wanted the clubs to consider increasing it this year to $10. However overwhelmingly, the clubs demanded the price be reduced. $5 was the general mark most clubs threw up, but it was agreed to go back to $6.

$10 would have been flat out insane. NSW Cup games are only $5, and honestly, the level of local Rugby League isn't even close. I get that gate takings can mean a lot to some clubs, but maybe its time they start looking at other avenues to raise revenue. Even at $6, many clubs aren't really providing much to a spectator group that are primarily friends and family of the players, not fans.

It's funny reading those comments, because I know many of the Wests junior clubs feel like they are getting the short end of the merger, and feel like they are simply playing by Group 6's rules - rather than an actual merger. The article shows the same feelings coming from the Group 6 side of everything.

At the moment, I agree, Group 6 does have the stronger senior set up, but since 2009 it has shown, and very quickly, that Wests are up to the task, and I believe will take over as the stronger of the two in due course.

When it comes down to it, City and Country Rugby League are very different beasts, and I don't think there will ever be a solution that will keep both areas happy. If anything, I can see the merger has reinstated the interest in senior Rugby League in the Campbelltown/Liverpool area, and in a couple of years, may be looking to stand alone, purely based on player and club participation numbers.

I think Development coach is rite. They are very different beasts.

I think once the Third grade clubs for Ctown grow in to 1sts res and 18s i think then they will go it alone. As really there is always going to be issues with each end and both have always ran there comps differently thus conflicting each others ideas.

But for now it is what it is!!!

I think Gold coin donations could a good way to boost crowds? Any ideas?

I like the gold coin donation idea. You can go to any Wests ground on the weekend, and there will almost be as many people watching form outside the gates as there are inside. I think converting those people into paying customers should be the first priority.

Im not so sure a gold coin donation will benefit clubs, you would need approx 500 turning up to a game and that would just cover the costs of paying the referees for the day. How many games would you see crowds of that nature? a local derby at best. It needs to be affordable but realistic as well to cover the home club expenses on the day.

Im assuming injuries & unavailability would have kept some players out as their is some notable ommissions. Interestingly no campbelltown players selected, considering their were a few named in the initial squad.

yeh im wif you on that disco_stu its strange how they named the campbelltown players but seems to look like they dont want to use them cause from wat ive been told theres only 1 injury from the 6 named. its a bit sad how the guys play in the same league but they cant get a look in the groups rep team its a shame but must say good luck to the group6 team n hopefully they win

I wouldn't be suprised if they couldn't play Campbelltown based players. I know if I was part of any other CRL Group, I wouldn't want Group 6 to get a massive player base advantage over everyone else

Id say they couldnt play as there not CRL registered players.

Why not have a group 6 Vs Wests players Rep game to give the group 6 lads a hard hit out each year before they play in the country carnival!!

:letmesee: Doesnt being in the Group 6 rep team make you a 20point player who needs to gain an extra 18 points if you are a 2 point player at the start of the year

Rep game results, group 9 beat group 6 yesterday 36-16, group 20 beat group 7, 40-20 and group 10 def group 16, 28-10.

Group 9 now play group 10 in first semi today and Group 20 play Group 16 in other semi being the lowest ranked loser.

Why would Campbelltown players be named as part of the original squad if they were not eligible to play??? Where there Campbelltown players left out of the final squad that should have been there? I would love to know if it was ability, rules or something else.

I wouldnt be rules as the u/18s group 6 side had a few campbelltown players in the side when they played a while ago. Maybe they were injured , were unavailable due to work/family commitments, or werent going to training at all , could be a number of scenarios.

Thats good, I would not like to think the Cambelltown or Liverpool players were excluded from selection for any reason and if they were at least the Liverpool/Campbelltown clubs should be made aware of this.

And can anybody confirm "Brownies comment" If a player was a 2 point player and then selected for the Group 6 reps, he would instantly become a 20 point player? That would be unfair to his club and could potentially put a club over the points.

That is not correct about the change in points value, otherwise clubs like Picton wouldn't have had 6 players in the group side.

Not true, if a player is worth 2 points they are a local jnr or a player thats been with the same club for 3 consecutive years. The only time their points value would increase if they left their local club to go to another , but if they returned back to their original club they'd be worth 2 again.

Sorry Guys, Brownie is right! Under the West rules anyone that played last year for that club is deemed to be a 2 point player, even though they are not a junior, if they played in the Rep team and is not a junior or been with the club for 3 years had his status changed from 2 to 20, this had happened with East with a number of players that started as a 2 or 10 point player, played some bundy games and are know 40 point players, East 1st grade coach has let a few players go as he wouldn't fit them in as 40 point players and doesn't think they are worth 40 points, This is also why East had to put that team in the Sydney Shield, and may participate in that next year not group 6, the point system needs a lot of work and will only weaken the compitition
