Strong support for All Saints coach David Lucas
SPORTGENERAL
01 JUN 10 @ 06:53AM BY VERA BERTOLA

MACARTHUR Chronicle readers have sent a strong message of support to rugby league coach David Lucas (pictured) who was sidelined from the game for 18 months for sending an “intimidatory” text message to a Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League paid employee.

The community largely sympathised with the All Saints under-14s coach who said he was frustrated when he found out one of his boys couldn’t play on the weekend because the necessary paperwork hadn’t been done.

OPINION: League fans say banned coach given a tough call

Lucas failed to meet the Wednesday 5pm deadline but had understood it was OK to slip the paperwork under the office door.

Wests chairman Wayne Hardy-Smith said the league itself had received no negative feedback about the situation or the penalty.

“At the end of the day Mr Lucas was aware of the policies and procedures. . . He knew the procedure if he had a complaint about a staff member,” he said. “He admitted (Macarthur Chronicle, May 22) he had overstepped the mark and was aware his actions were inappropriate.”

what do you all think of this? What a joke!

Hi all, reading the c/town chronicle, west board member Mr Wayne Hardy-Smith writes they have had no complaints regarding the treatment of Dave Lucas, send an email to wests juniors westsjrl@bigpond.net.au and inform them in writing on what you feel, cc it to bertolav@cumberlandnewspapers.com.au keep it simple and don't get personal, help support Dave Lucas a great volunteer of the game.

This isnt really relevant to group 6 forum, any wests jnr related stories should be posted in the wests jrl section unless its to do with the joint competition which this is clearly an u/14 matter.

Dave Lucas had alot to do with the joint competition, he was the manager of All Saints under 18's group 6 grand final last year, and is now supporting another senior team in the competition,

This is cut and paste straight from points rules

COMBINED COMPETITION POINTS SYSTEM - 2010

Category – C 20 POINTS Per player

that has participated in any of the grades/competitions outlined below in the current season or the previous 3 seasons.
•Region Representative / Divisional Representative / Group Representative / NSWRL Junior Representative
That is correct, however it does not apply to a player if he is already at a club.
This will apply only to a player if he is from out of the area.
I'll give 3 examples

1.
If i were a Camden junior and i went to Picton, i would be a 25 point player. If i were to represent group 6 that year, i would remain a 25 point player, because that is the amount i was worth when i came to the club

2.
If i played for Kiama, and represented Group 7, then came up and played for Thirlmere next year, i would be classed as a category C player, being of 20 points value.

3.
If i played for Kiama, and then decided to go to Thirlmere, i would be a 10 point player, from outside the area.

All players hold their points value for a period of 3 years, as long as they dont change clubs.

I had a conversation today with a Group 6 official and he told me this ( use it as scenario 4)
For example
4. An East Campbelltown player on 2 points who is selected and plays for the Group 6 reps, still remains a 2 point player as long as he stays at East Campbelltown. If he moved to another club the following year he would then be a 25 point player. (which he would be if he had played reps or not)
Bottom line is playing local reps does not increase your points as long as you stay at the same club.

Therfore if "Blue Devils" players have had their points upped by playing Bundy and they havn't changed clubs he should be asking for their points back, as your points should not change if your play up and come back to the same club.

Disco stu and Maverick, I do have the rules but our club has been officially informed, if a 2 point player plays 2 bundy games he will progress to a 40 point player, yes we have argued the point but as normal it gets you nowhere, we had a number of questions that don't add up in the rule book, but again all you get is "it's in the rule book" there is too many descepancies in the rule book, trust me!

Is this somehow intertwined with your portability rule due to player eligibility?

From what i have been told, this is was done so that Easts cannot stack their group 6 side, when the bundy team has a bye, etc.
This is the only exception to the rule. The area representative does not apply to any 2 point players, until they change clubs.

Your dead set joking arent u fair dinkum stack ya side with bundy players what a joke bundy players are 40 points yeah lets stack the team with 7.5 players = 300 points and 4fit the reserves so we can play with 7.5 players in G6 1st grade what a joke our players get rewarded for hard work and fill in the bundy and get slapped with 40 point tag thats real fair

Why would teams stack there sides? it would only cause disention with the players that normally play in the other sides.
Also ive been told all games are off this weekend due to the weather

Half or more of the Bundy team have never played Bundy before thus year, they try to make the step up and get tagged by 40 points after 2 games, great system!

In my opinion the players points should remain the same for Easts players no matter how many times they step up. The first Bundy game would have used 17 players who would all be 40 point players, (presumably the best 17 in the club) If another player steps up after that then if he was a 2 point player, he should remain a 2 point player. If was already a 2 point player then it shows he has had no previous rep experience unless he was a club junior.

Does anyone have any information on players dropping back in grades?? A few of the Bowral Lads were saying at the pub they were told that Easts would be dropping the whole resereve grade side back to play 3rds on sunday as its the only game still on.

I find this very hard to beleave myself and proberly a case of chinese whispers but you never know. I dont think the rules are posted on the group 6 site would be good if they were so everyone could know where they stand on these matters.

how on earth can a bundy player be worth the same as a NRL player not a chance are bundy player anywhere near the standard of a nrl player so they shouldnt be the same value in points in the real world that is
