:winner: Tough gig putting in 3 grade teams plus 18's. Need plenty of players for that. Good luck to the clubs that can do it. Robbo should fall on their sword and come back to group 6 and DNC comp or join with Mossy. They wont go Bowral, tried that once and wont do that again

They wont join Mossy nor will they want to return to group 6. Have no clue what they will do!!

Anyway my mail is that 13 team 1sts and reserves and 10 DNC Warragamba,Bowral and Appin the group clubs in that comp.

Bowral have put in 2 sides in res and DNC i hope they have the numbers.

Also heard Valley only nominated reserves and Collies 1sts and 18s.Unsure how true.

collies had 35 at traning last nite havnt given up on 2nd grade, sounds like it may be time 4 the comp to luk to bring bak 2nd divesion 1st grade and reserve grade. i playd in the 78 warriors team that won the 2nd division reserve grde under the coaching of the late warren ritchie. we had 3 grades that year, our 1st grdade got beat by camden in the grand final.

Yes my informant told me that the group will go to the CRL and ask for them to return to Group 6 But i was also told they may not even have the numbers for a senior team just 18s.

Like STU said Stay tuned this has along way to go. :fight:

Who are the tips for theis year??

Thirlmere look strong on paper as they always do. Picton don't look like they have lost too much from last year either adn East Campbelltoen did pretty well at the Cabramatta nines winning two from three trophies on offer.

Will there be some competition or is there only a couple of horses in this race??

I think deep will be the key to the anyside being able to take the title for 2010.

East are looking srong and if the papers are correct so is city and rumour is bulldogs have deepth as well.

All in all just looking forward to a season of great footy each week and dont think there will be to many wins for anyside by more than 12 points.

According to the local gossip Robertson are giving themselves a fortnight to decide there future. They have pulled out of this weeks trial with Mittagong with Bowral taking there place.

If they were to fold id expect all 3 highland clubs to go out of there way to sign there remaining players. Id say most would proberly head to Moss vale.

I did read that Campbelltown City had Kevin McGuinness and Ronald Jones, who else have they got? They will need some forwards to compete with the other clubs.

Dragons roll out the red carpet

2010 may be the year of the Tiger according to Chinese mythology, but there are a few people down Moss Vale way that reckon it’ll be a Dragons year through and through.
Moss Vale have continued their pre-season signing spree with one of the most coveted signatures in the competition.

Halfback Shane Martin, the man who led Thirlmere to multiple Group 6 premierships after switching from Mittagong, is the latest to sign for the Dragons.

Martin joins former Cronulla player Mark Delamont and former Shellharbour representative Josh Champion as the new faces in 2010.

Competition for jerseys within the team is expected to be fierce, but that’s good for the club according to president Greg Burke.

“I’m glad I am not a selector!” he said.

“Competition within the club will let the boys know that there are no free tickets to first grade, as there may have been at other times.”

Moss Vale have finished third in Group 6 for the past three seasons but have fallen short of making the grand final.

Burke’s confident that this year could be the breakthrough.

“September’s a long way off right now but we are very happy with where we’re at,” he said.

“We are not chasing any more players - if anyone wants a game they can come to us, but we now feel we have the team to push deep into the year.”

Martin was recruited for his onfield nous, but also what he offers some of the club’s best young players.

Ben Murchie and Steve Fairbairn are just two of the Dragons young halves who are expected to benefit from working with the older head.

“What we have lacked is direction around the ruck,” Burke said.

“He [Martin] is a smart footballer and there is a lot he can show some of our young guys who have a hell of a lot of ability but are in need of a bit of fine tuning.”

Good signing :correct:

The combined competition has been great for senior Rugby League throughout Campbelltown. No-one could tell you the last time local 1st Grade Rugby League dominated the back pages of the local papers in summer.
East Campbelltown, City, Collies and Ingleburn Bulldogs have all had a feature article or two on the back page.
Combined Competition is an important measure in ensuring that League stays as the area's top winter sport.

Its great for Campbelltown but is it great for group 6 clubs? 6 of the 7 titles last year went to Wests clubs if that continues expect smaller group clubs to consider there future.

Crowds were down last year for alot of group clubs which is a concern as gate takings are important hopfully supporters will return as they get used to the new comp.

I think the $8 entry fee put a few people of from going to the games last year , hopefully this year with the admission prices dropped back to $6 it will get more people thru the gate, (fees based on holding 3 games). Most clubs need to clear at least $400 just to pay refs so getting punters thru the gate is critical. One thing i noticed also last year was that the campbelltown teams had no supporter base going to away games which hopefully will improve this year.
