Mcintyre system of the net hope it helps Week 1 1st Qualifying Final: 1st vs 8th 2nd Qualifying Final: 2nd vs 7th 3rd Qualifying Final: 3rd vs 6th 4th Qualifying Final: 4th vs 5th The teams are then ranked depending on whether they won or lost, then on their position on the ladder before the finals. The two lowest ranked losers are eliminated from the finals, whilst the two highest ranked winners progress straight to Week 3. A key part of an effective MacIntyre system is scheduling. In the first week games must be played in the following order: 4 vs 5, 3 vs 6, 2 vs 7, 1 vs 8. Teams in the first two games are playing for the chance at a bye in the second week of the finals. If the final two games ultimately go as predicted, then the chance at a bye week or the risk of elimination disappears, so those games need to be played last so there is never a situation where two teams know that their result would certainly not matter. Week 2 1st Semi Final: 4th highest ranked winner vs 2nd highest ranked loser 2nd Semi Final: 3rd highest ranked winner vs 1st highest ranked loser The two losing teams are eliminated, the two winning teams progress to Week 3. Week 3 1st Preliminary Final: 2nd highest ranked winner (from Week 1) vs winner of 2nd Semi Final 2nd Preliminary Final: 1st highest ranked winner (from Week 1) vs winner of 1st Semi Final The two losing teams are eliminated, the two winning teams progress to Week Four. Week 4 Grand Final: winner of 1st Preliminary Final vs winner of 2nd Preliminary Final The major advantages of the system are the number of different combinations of teams which could make the final game and that no matches are repeated twice in the first three weeks. When compared to other final eight systems, many of which split the participants into two groups, the McIntyre system means only two combinations (1v7 and 2v8) are impossible participants in the Grand Final. The Top 2 teams after the regular season are rewarded by being given a 'second life' within the finals. If either of these two teams lose to their much lower ranked opponents in the first week, then one of the two losing teams ranked lower than them are eliminated, which means the 1st and 2nd ranked teams can withstand a loss in the finals and their season will continue, albeit with significant disadavantages. |

apparently they were checking the availability of the stadium for the GF. The rest of the grounds are being determined by the end of the week. I'm assuming 4 venues in week 1. The grounds are of concern though, Thirlmere is a horrible ground towards the back end of the season, moss vale is ok as long as it doesn't get soaked, Picton becomes a dust bowl, Camden is pretty good, Narellan is like concrete, Mittagong's not too bad, The Oaks is fair, Oakdale is good |

I agree with those comments the only problem with Oakdale is its abit small to fit everything in. what will happern with the DNC and 18b and cs will those clubs get the chance to hold semis or will there games be at the 1st grade grounds aswell? |

I thought their watering system was called rain ?? Seriously i think the choice of grounds will be based on a number of factors ,their size, security, surface ,amenities etc. Theres some grounds around that aren't fully fenced and can be easily accesible for punters who don't like to pay to get into games which i think play a part. Regarding the use of the stadium the Group had to pay hire on it last year for the semis which was about 4k i think, unsure if Wests contributed to the hire costs as well. The downside of holding games at the stadium is the lost revenue for host teams to make money on canteen , liquor & food etc. |

This is also a major stumbling block for the Wests Magpies using the stadium. Not being able to run the canteen and bar really makes playing at the stadium a financial heart ache. |

David Lowe has been one of the best players for the last 10 years, and Matt McBeth is a genuine workhorse, they are very inspiring footballers |

I maybe biased but seeing Mossy demolish Camden by 50 points yesterday i'd have to say they would definately be a frontrunner also for the premiership. Mind you they have some tough games against Thirlmere,Oakdale and Narellan coming up. |

Results from the weekend were weird. What happened to Camden? Did Picton turn up? And Thirlmere, 3 on the trot. Do Mossy have East Campbelltown next round too? |

Oakdale may have good props and so do Mossvale but I have been asking around for other opinions on this topic and after playing all sides but Mittagong I still believe that one of the best props in the comp plays for All Saints and doesn't get paid for it. Matt Blunden would be one of the hardest hitting prop forwards I have seen in this and other competitions and have not seen anyone this year come off best in a man for man hit. He plays for 80 minutes most games and hates coming off. Ask any of the highly paid boys that have played against him what they think of the guy in the blue head gear who turns up to train and play all the time and doesn't get a dollar to play. I wonder if the top sides forwards would still be there if somebody said there was no money? |
