What does fining the club do. It just makes it harder on the people trying to run the club and raise the money. Ban or suspend the players involves like they did with Bowral and hitchenbrook.

All the talk at the moment is Campbelltown Collegians, will the west juniors let them get away with this one, well they are playing this weekend! WHAT A DISGRACE!
Apparently the issue has been resolved with Collies getting a $2500 fine.
So when they win the Reserve Grade comp, and get $2000, it will be more like a $500 fine
tc6_11 i like your sharp accounting skills however the reggies comp is not a walk up start for collies.

Thats true Brownie , finals footy can go either way on the day , Moss Vale had a 12 all draw with Collies today after the dragons lead 12-6 at the break.

Congratulations to the Moss Vale Dragons 1st grade for the claiming the 1st grade minor premiership today . Its been 20 years since the Dragons won a minor premiership ,1990 being the last time. It was dissapointing though Ingelburn had forfieted their final game for this too happen.

Great win by the Roos 1st Grade today, claiming a narrow 34-32 victory over Camden, knocking our old rivals out of the semis. We finally had a narrow one go our way, with all those narrow losses leaving us one point shy of the 8 in 2010.
At any rate, it has been fantastic to bring our esteemed club back to the 1st Grade competition in which it truly belongs and we hope that we have added a lot to the G6 comp again, on and off the field.
While some people may regard G6 as only Camden- Moss Vale/ Robbo- Warragamba, Campbelltown Kangaroos competed in the leagues encompassing these areas from 1908- 1983. We see the future of our senior footy club as being in this 1st Grade competition.
Thanks to the Camden club today, who despite an horrendous injury toll, fulfilled all their commitments in the 18s and Reserve Grade games.

Well done to city, they have competed well for there first season back in the top grade, but they are in the same position with East when it comes to home grounds, they need to go to council and push for up grades if they plan to play at the top level for future years, grounds are got to be club assets! With the date city started, 1908 that is questionable? The first records of City date to 1920's, I had a rare group 6 history book that stated this, when I lend the book to a city member, it mysteriously dissapeared, and I have not seen it since, in the book it also stated that the number 10 jersey was never to be worn again due to a death of a city player! Great book, love to have it back!

I have a History of Campbelltown book, Mr Blue Devil, that shows the Kangaroos playing in 1912 against Camden. The Roos started as a Rugby Union club, playing invitational League fixtures in 1908 thru to 1910, when an semi- organised local competition starts in the local area.
Or do you have the East Campbelltown JRLFC/ Minor League minute books of the 1970s that show the official record that Easts were long content being our junior feeder club haha.
As I have stated previously on this forum, yes our home ground is not yet up to scratch for G6 Rugby League. Without a strong competition, like we now have, there simply hasn't been the need for ground upgrades. Consequently, Group 6 stalwarts visiting Milton Park or Worrell Park for the first time since 1983 could be rightly justified in thinking they are on the set of the 'Philadelphia Experiment'. We have redevelopment plans for Stromeferry in the pipeline, as you have for Waminda, and we will soon boast a home ground that will secure City's future in our second century as a footy club in this town.
Correct- our club hasn't worn Number 10 in senior Group 6 Rugby League since 1949, when local butcher Ron New suffered a broken neck and passed away in a game at Picton. Spectators at G6 games this year would have noticed that our starting front rower in all grades wears 14 instead of 10; whereas pre-1983, it was our starting backrower who wore 14.

City were a good team this year and its a shame they aren't in the 1st grade finals as they would have troubled some teams.

 Well done with the number 10 jersey, I just looked at a city program and you have done this throughout the season. Yes the Eagles were a feeder club for the Roos and our first home ground was Orana Park back in 1961 and we only had an under 14's team, I only found that information out on the weekend when we had Life Members turn up to our game, as he was the original President for the Eagles, does that mean Campbelltown Stadium is our home ground? when did City move to Orana Park?

I wish i could pass that book onto you. Next time I see you, I will let you know who from city has the book and try and chase it up. Does anyone know if there is any other copies? it was in a brown and gold hard cover with the History of Group 6 on the front, It was apparently sold at a Group 6 Grand Final back in about 1986, so I was told.

With the Eagles being a feeder for the Roos, The Campbelltown City Leagues club use to buy the Jesrey's for the Eagles Juniors, what hope would we have of that happening now! by the way, we are kind enough to have City feeding as our feeder club, send your good juniors to us! LOL :correct:

When Rugby League began in Australia in 1908 it was mainly Rugby Union teams that switched codes. Many teams would play Union on the Saturday and League on the Sunday with games basicly invitation fixtures rather than a structured competition. The Western Suburbs District RLFC for example was formed in 1908 with many of their players coming from the Ashfield Rugby Union Club. Wests territory stretched from Ashfield out to rural areas such as Cambelltown, Parramatta, Liverpool and Penrith. Wests had a junior league but by 1920, due to the population growth Wests formed two extra junior leagues - "Southern Districts" with teams from Camden, Campbelltown Kangaroos, Minto, Liverpool Magpies, Liverpool Wanderers, Cabramatta, Fairfield, Smithfield and Coreaux Dam and "Western Districts" with teams from Parramatta North, Parramatta Endeavour, Granville, Auburn, Lidcombe, Penrith, Emu Plains, Wentworthville, St Marys & Blacktown. Extracts from "Clouds of Dust, Buckets of Blood" - story of Wests Magpies.

It states that "the first organized league comp was called the Berrima District League. The teams competing in the 1914 competition were, Bowral, Moss Vale, Robertson, Mittagong, Wildes Meadow, Thirlmere and Picton.

just quoting the book. No mention of C'town.
"The area was split in 1924. The northern end played in the Metropolitan Southern Districts Competition, in which were Picton, Camden ,The Oaks. Guildford ,Parramatta, and Cabramatta.

100% right footy shorts. The kangaroos had two reserve grade teams from 1968-72: the Roos and Wallabies. The clashes would draw big crowds and were just rolling blews. The strength of both teams was evenly split. Kangaroos won the 69 and 71 reserve grade comps while the Wallabies were defeated in the 1970 decider by Campbelltown Warriors, competing in their first year of G6 footy.
I've seen your book at that person's house Blue Devil and will chase up for you.
Great news about the competition securing fairfax as a media partner. Could be time for someone to also update Hilton Middleton's book and republish it.

how can anyone congratulate Moss Vale on winning the minor premiership? what was wrong is that they were awarded the points after having lost to Oakdale. My opinion counts for nothing however it's shared by a few who attend this room.
