Yes, there was an incident and another disgraceful act once again, Mac Saints 18's players chased a referee, one player getting a big steel bolt from his car, the ref was told by officials from East and LCC to run to them at the official table where he was shielded by them, a east parent had taken the weapon off the player, very similar incidents to what happened with Hinchinbrook and Collies, Collies incident some 35 days later has still not been delt with, no wonder we have these problems, but the good people of the game get suspended for text messages and emails, |

Agreed, the quality of games between Week 1, and Week 2 was of no comparison. I still don't see the fairness in the comp, with Picton getting the week off, and then playing a sore Thirlmere, likewise with Easts. If Mittagong pop up and win this week, it would be a minor miracle, but i think they could thank the Workers for the tough game they gave Easts. Picton by 4, Easts by 16. |

The weekend of for some teams can either be a real hinderance or a help with their momentum thru the finals. Moss Vale hadnt played for 2 weeks prior to last weeks semi due the forfeit in the final rnd by Ingelburn. As such they were a little rusty against the roosters but still managed to get up for the win. Thirlmere to me have suffered somewhat in their attacking flair compared to previous rooster outfits,or maybe it was the good defence of the dragons, with the amount of ball they had against Moss Vale they were unable to crack for more points, when you lose sampson, martin, jensen and wozniak etc from your squad your not the dominant team you once were. Picton are dangerous out wide with poisel, brassington, eckler and dreves , Theres not alot of difference between this side and the side that won the premiership last year , obviously losing Brad Soper, and the retirement of Dave Beddal,Matt Burke and Nigel Daniels the most notable changes. Oakdale say they dont fear anyone in the competition, wether thats arrogance or confidence i'll bet they will be looking over their shoulder should Picton roll Thirlmere on sunday though. Mittagong fancy themselves against Easts, and the game against the dragons in the grand final qualifying game is there motivating factor to want to win. Easts were beaten by one of the form teams of the comp, so they should account for mittagong. Mitttagong finished 6th at years end and only played one side ahead of them in the last 6 rnds of the comp that being Thirlmere in which the lions lost. To me they havent really had a quality hit out to be taken as a threat for the premiership. |

I know that money is needed to pay refs fees ect but I hear many comments from people that would like to go and watch games but when told of the $6 per person even for players they just dont come. It might not sound much to most people but 1 mum and 1 dad is $12 bring your son and it's near $20 add a couple of pies or burgers and drinks and you have spent $40 plus for a local A Grade game. If you come under West's rules you cant even have a beer while watching the game. If we want to attract "more" people I think gate fees need to be lower and have discounts for more than 1 person maybe? Wests need to relax the drinking rule (you can have a beer at group 6 games) and maybe more people will come through the gates just to watch. If weekend fixtures were highlighted in all the local papers each week, more spectators that are not necessarily aligned to any team may come to watch. Just my opinion but 100 people @ $6 is $600 but 150 people at $4 is still $600 with more canteen and beer revenue that could be taken |

Point taken, if you recall, the price was $8 entry last year. At the First group 6 meeting this year they considered upping this fee, untl the clubs demanded it be lowered. What the Group has to think about are families. $6 or even $8 is fine for an individual, because lets face it, if you are going to the footy on your own, you want to be there. $10 flat fee for 2 parents and 2 kids. |

You say that $6 or $8 is OK for individuals, and supporters of their local side "may' pay this, but isn't the idea to attract more people through the gates that are not current supporters. While ever these prices stay the same I dont think crowds will increase. We need to attract other local people that love to watch their footy by offering them a cheap afternoons entertainment (singles and families). The local paper is supposed to be a major sponsor and if all venues were advertised each week in the same spot in all the local paper's, then people may open the paper to see who's playing this week and go and watch. P.S I think that its disgusting that the players have to pay to get into the gate for their own game, I dont know any other district that does this. |

The group/wests management control the gate during the finals series. Monies raised thru the finals series will be dispersed back to the clubs that competed in the finals, the further they progress the more they get. Players dont pay to get into games as i understand as they get passes given to them by the group/wests management. NSW cup has been used as a yardstick here regarding prices, what does a ref get paid in NSW cup as opposed to group 6??? One must remember too that a NSW cup game is only one game, a typical group 6/wests game can have 2-4 games on the one day. |

I think your misinformed....Our players dont get any passes to get into games. All our players have paid for entry to every game and never been reimbursed. And if any other teams are getting passes I would like to know why? The only passes given are for team officials who still have to pay $2 Edited by Maverick, Sep 3 2010, 01:45 PM.

your right the u/18s are allowed 25 passes per allocated finals fixture for a $2 entry fee, this is what confused me as i thought this was for grade players also.

Disco your info is incorrect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the players have to pay to enter grounds that they play at if you attend games you'll see it on the entry boards that reflect the price of entry to the game. |

Players having to pay has always been the case in group 6 some clubs wont charge there own players at home games but not all. In group 7 Players enter the finals for free and its $10 for everyone else. I went to a carlton league game last year and seen players get charged $2 for a regular round game aswell things to look at |

I think $6 for players is a reasonable fee for entry into a game after all majority of that $6 is going back into their pocket in the way of match payments. Stop paying players and we wont have to charge admission |

And stop paying refs as well ?? How else can you afford to pay them as on a normal day with 3 games ref fees are close to $500. $6 was the normal entry fee this year anyway for 3 games, its the clubs discretion as to what they charge they can charge less if they want. The finals on the other hand have been put up to $8 because the group/wests management control the gate. With the stadium hire costing around 4k last year when they used it ,they need to get revenue in for that again plus the prizemoney for clubs and you probably may have noticed that there are two extra refs to pay each game being the in goal touchies. |

In the past players have received passes from the Group for the finals, this may have changed this year. |

Not all clubs pay their players, most do but not all and if we were we could add $6 to their payments each week to cover this. But this still does not attract more supporters. |

Refs earn their money. I wouldn't do their job for twice the fee. |
