I too was at the ground and i am a big fan of some good banter it adds to the atmosphere and spectacle of the game, what i did hear was way over the top and credit to East's fans for not going back at them.

I am sure there are some great mossy fans out there and these other fools are only a minority with little regard for the game as a whole, there is no place in the game for racism and should not be tolerated.

And yes they did give the East's number 12 a hard time, and the comments about Kemo was just appalling, everyone who is anyone will know someone who has been effected by cancer, and for the East's club whom contribute to each year to two charities for Cancer namely McGrath Foundation and the 24hr Walk for Cancer Macarthur these comments are truly vindictive and a shame on the individuals who said these words. Perhaps they need to contact East's whom could organise a trip to the Cancer ward and have a look at how it effects families, just not Rugby League small minded mossy fans, one hopes those will not be present come Saturday's Grand-Final day.....

Well, well, well... an interesting weekends footy at victoria park picton, with some great rugby league and some surprise results. Most notably in the reserve grade fixture where competition favourites collies were soundly beaten by easts and in first grade Picton put the cleaners through heavy favourites Oakdale in a clinical display. Moss Vale advanced to their first decider in many years with a comfortable win over easts, congratulations on an excellent year and well deserved! I hope Picton can reproduce the game they played on Sunday night in the grand final.... They were outstanding, especially in defence. Oakdale seemed flat and started poorly, an increasing penalty count saw the maggies land numerous penalty goals throughout the match to keep them comfortably in front. Uncharactoristic errors were the order of the day for the workers, with Picton scoring all 3 tries off kicks. Hard to explain what went wrong for oakdale, but they met a determined picton outfit that executed their game plan flawlessly on their home turf. If they can reproduce that form then they are a great chance of causing yet another upset and going back to back premiers. But Mossy have just as much to play for and this sets up an interesting game on sat night

Mighty Picton Magpies make the Group 6/Wests grand final

PICTON pulled off a result that surprised many on Sunday when they beat Oakdale 22-0 to qualify for this year's Group 6/Wests grand final.
Picton will face Moss Vale in the crunch match at Campbelltown Sports Stadium at 7pm on Saturday in their bid to defend last year's title.

Led by player-coach Gary Dowse, who came out of retirement earlier this year, the young Magpies side handed Oakdale their second defeat of the season.

Will Dreves scored the first try out wide and landed a difficult conversion to give his team an early lead.

The Magpies continued to pile on the pressure with plenty of possession in Oakdale's territory.

Dreves was a star with the boot, kicking five goals.

Picton led 16-0 at half-time and, as expected, Oakdale lifted in the second half.

Picton's defence stood firm to hold Workers scoreless for the first time this season.

This season's minor premiers Moss Vale stand in the way of Picton winning back-to-back premierships.

Dragons' danger men include five-eighth Daniel Drewe, fullback Rhys Lenarduzzi and hooker Mark Delamont.

But Dowse will have his team well drilled and prepared for Saturday's big clash.

"The boys will be up for it," Dowse said.

"It should be a better playing surface at Campbelltown at this time of the year than we've played on all season.

"I don't know a real lot about Moss Vale except I know they're pretty good all across the paddock.

"We've only played them once this season and they flogged us but we've improved a lot since then."

Dowse believed Picton are in with a good chance of winning after his team lowered the colours the highly-regarded Oakdale.

"Any team is beatable on the day," Dowse said.

"We proved that against Oakdale on Sunday — we were just up for it."

Oh dear camdan-nite have you lost the plot or what? you want to ban the moss vale club for a couple months and have them withdrawn from the finals due to a couple of ''pelican supporters'' carrying-on, supposeble making racist comments and other remarks at east c'towns players during sundays game??? i could understand if it was players on the field making the comments but why EVEN think about something so stupid in baning the players and giving most of them a chance to play in there first grand final because of a couple supporters!!! and who knows were they even there following the moss vale club!

Ok guys/girls, with the big combined competition grand finals coming up there will be winners and there'll be losers. MOSS Vale’s experienced players will try to calm the nerves before tomorrow’s Wests/Group 6 Decider.
For some Dragons, like Elliot Esquilant, it is their first ever grand final, while for others it will be another day at the office.

Player-coach Willie MacDonald won an Illawarra Carlton League title with Thirroul in 2008, but he said he wasn’t expected to lead the team down the coast.

The only change to the team is the possible omission of Tim Small, who has been sidelined with a pectoral injury.

MacDonald said the centre would be given until the last minute to prove his fitness but if he pulls up lame, bulldozing utility Brett Cumming will be brought into the starting line-up.

“Fingers crossed he’ll play,” MacDonald said.

Ex-Thirlmere players Lee Faavae and Shane Martin have won numerous titles with the Roosters.

For Martin it will be his fifth successive grand final after winning two titles in 2006 and 2008.

It could be the Kiwi combination of Martin and MacDonald that lead the team to its first grand final triumph in 20 years.

Martin said it was important for the club with names like Noble, Loader and Saunders all involved in this year’s crusade.

He said Picton were too fast for the Workers last week and Moss Vale will have to slow down the ruck.

He said Magpie halfback Bryce Posiel and skipper Gary Dowse would be the ones to watch.

Martin said he told the young team to make the most of the experience and remain calm at training on Tuesday.

MacDonald said he was taking nothing from the 40-8 win the Dragons have had over Picton this year but he was “quietly confident” the two-decade title drought would be broken.

While he didn’t want to get bogged down in the history surrounding the game he acknowledged it was an important day for the club.

“We don’t want to do it for everyone else. We want to do it for each other,” he said.

The man who skippered Moss Vale to their last title, Terry Loader, will run the water tomorrow with former teammate Owen Saunders, Mick Sutherland and Ross Webb.

Terry’s son Issac will play on the wing and Loader said he was proud to see his boy on the paddock.

The strength of the reserve grade squad, who were knocked out last weekend, has also added to the Dragons’ firepower this year. Cumming was the grade’s top try scorer.

Dragons president Greg Burke said the shot at another title had been a long time coming.

“My word. There’s a good rivalry between the clubs,” he said.

“It’s not just the 17 in first grade it’s the depth. The reserves have been more mature.”

The last Highlands team to win a first grade title was Mittagong in 1995, while Picton won in 1999, 2005 and 2009.

DRAGONS’ FIRST GRADE LINE-UP: 1 Rhys Lenarduzzi 2 Ben Lips 3 Josh Champion 4 Tim Small/Brett Cumming 5 Isaac Loader 6 Dan Drewe 7 Shane Martin 8 Willie MacDonald 9 Mark Delamont 10 Elliot Esquilant 11 Robbie Noble 12 Scott Drewe 13 Shane Rofe. Bench: Lee Faavae, Steve Fairbairn, Jess Micallef and Damian Barton.

Well done East Campbelltown. Moss Vale v Picton should be a great contest with Reserves a battle of the Campbelltown Clubs. Lets hope there's a big crowd. I asked an experienced Group 6 official early in the pre-season who were the favourites for the title and he nominated Mossy. Time will tell if he's correct.

I do not condone any form of racism, it starts with people like yourself who let people get away with it and it escalates to a situation out of control at the end of the day your club is responsible for the behavior of it's supporters.

Grand Final Previews

U/18-3 Picton V Robertson

Picton have done well to be represented in 2 grades on grand final day, and they take on the energetic Spuddies who will bring some vocal supporters. On recent performances this should be close and maybe the efforts of key players such as Robbo’s crafty hooker and u/18-3 Player of the Year Thomas Keft will determined the outcome.

U/18-2 Liverpool Catholic Club V Ingleburn RSL

Both clubs are ecstatic about making the grand final and will be up for the occasion. Again not an easy one to pick but Ingleburn RSL have some aces in their ranks in U/18-2 player of the Year halfback Chris Bostock and leading tryscorer hooker Chris Buxton. Conversely Jye Peters from LCC is the competitions leading pointscorer.

U/18-1 Eaglevale St Andrews V Collegians

Eaglevale would have been clear favourites a week ago but with a heavy workload over the last week including a Uni Shield match last Tuesday which left a number of players battered, how they back up will be the key here. Collegians will smell blood in the water and fancy themselves to cause an upset.

3rd Grade East Campbelltown V Appin

East Campbelltown are the club champions in 2010 and show why by having 3rds and Reserve teams in grand finals, a real credit to the club. After finishing the season in 3rd spot thay have maintained some good form to win their way into the decider. Appin will probably be the underdog and gather some crowd support from neutrals at the stadium. Small towns like Appin invariably show incredible support when their sporting teams make the big stage and expect a large and loud supporter base for the Dogs. Appin won through with an exciting 9-8 win over minor premiers Macquarie Fields last Sunday who were in control but appeared to run out of steam as the Dogs lifted to the challenge.

2nd Grade Campbelltown City V East Campbelltown

The City Roos are in their 1st grand final in senior ranks since 1983 and very proud that this has happened in a season where they have returned to play against former Group 6 rivals. The Roos finished 3rd on the ladder but have been in good form in recent weeks to make the big one. Key for the Roos will be joint Gary Dowling Rising Star winner in 2010, David Ataua who has been in great form during the finals. The Eagles were very impressive in disposing of minor premiers Collegians in a thumping on Sunday, and if they maintain this type effort and the Roos go with them, this game promises to be a cracker.

1st Grade Moss Vale V Picton

We have arrived at a grand final that few would have predicted. A month ago Picton were no certainties to make the eight, but have relied on finals experience and enthusiasm which has seen them become legitimate contenders. They have been good all over the park in recent weeks, but halfback Bryce Poisel has shown his class and captain/coach Gary Dowse his experience as a leader. They arrive in the grand final with little pressure and everything to play for. Picton is likely to be empty on Saturday night with a big rollup of Magpie supporters a certainty. Moss Vale as the minor premiers probably have placed a lot of expectation on themselves, as by their own admission they have been building to this for 7 years. They do have some high quality players in Esquilant, Delamont, McDonald and Drewe. They show a nice balance across the park and appear to have some real attacking firepower. Of concern will be periods during the last two hitouts where they appear to have drifted in concentration a little and given the opposition a sniff, which could prove very costly against a sharp Magpie outfit. Almost too close to call and the Rd 7 clash between the two where the Dragons toweled up Picton by 40-08 is irrelevant and no guide at all. Toss a coin!!

A few results from todays games.

3rd Grade Appin 24 Easts 10 (i think)

Reserve Grade - City 24 Easts 20

In regards to the U/18's Div 1 at least some common sense prevailed and the game will be played next sunday at Liechhardt Oval.

Congratulations to Willie McDonald, the Mossy boys and to their past and present committees of their footy club that have returned the Dragons to the top.
Congratulations also to Gary Syron and his Campbelltown Kangaroo Reserve Graders who broke a 27 year senior grades drought for the Roos in claiming our 13th Reserve Grade title (first since 1975 in second grade). Roos.
And what about Appin? How tremendous that community Rugby League is alive again in their village. It was great to see Vicki O'Mullane and the club rewarded for their hard work on the main day of the year.
