I agree Highlander, but I Dont think you should tar all West clubs with the same brush, I went to Bowral and watched our 3rd grade and it was a good family day, we had good support and the game was a good quality game for 3rd Grade, I know I would jump ship at a drop of a dime,

True Devil and clubs like Easts ,City, Warriors and ESA this year where great to play there supporters were great hosts/guests But there were a fair few clubs that where just down and out grubs and it those sides that put everything in danger for everyone.

It has gotten to the point where if we placed in 3rd grade next year they wouldnt have a team as the players have told the club they will defect to group 7 as a whole unless there in reserve grade.

Im Sorry Orana but at the end of the day the Merger is not and has not been good for my club so why should i support it!!!

Mate we ran at a lost at some home games as people didnt turn up we had to share home games with Robbo to get a decent gate!! where as in 2008 even in DNC we made good coin.

Mate driving all the way up to some grounds to labelled a "inbred" or "Sheep rooter" which i can take but having my mrs and kids subjected to it and intimidated and not wanting to attend away games Yeah Great Love it!!!

See crowds fight after the game rushing me kids into a car as its coming towards me!!

Can you honestly expect me to support that?

I agree totally Highlander. That's not the spirit of Rugby League. We need to maintain a hardline against all that garbage. It can't be tolerated.
Spot on, a few rotten apples have endangered what is now the best senior competition in the whole greater Sydney area.
3rd Grade should be social Rugby League in which the players compete in a safe and semi- competitive arena. They were party central for our club but in some games they were intimidated and outclassed by players in teams who should be competing at the 1st or Reserve Grade level. I don't know how this can be addressed.
I liken it to 3rd Grade Rugby Union and the ethos of that. Social players, but many of whom are teachers, bankers, lawyers etc who influence society.
Look around the League and I bet you'll find that many of the club's current volunteers in G6 are club stalwarts who only played lower grades at their club. Rarely do high profile local 'stars' or imports hang around the footy club to volunteer once they retire. At City, many of our lower graders have filtered into the junior ranks already, coaching etc.
I know the English RFL have a deliberate policy whereby they bolster the game at the University level, in full knowledge that they are exposing future societal leaders to the game.

Well, what was better?
2008 Group 6 season- 5 teams in 1st and Reserve Grade (with Narellan 1sts and Appin 2nds failing to make their commitments as the '6th teams' in these grades)?
or
2010 G6/Wests season- 12x 1st Grade teams, 10 highly competitive with an improving All Saints and a strong Campbelltown Collegians club more than able to take the next step to 1st Grade. Yes Ingleburn Bulldogs were off the speed, but that area should also be supporting a strong 1st Grade club. Bulldogs strength was severely compromised by having 3 neighbouring clubs field 3rd Grade teams around them, disabling Ingleburn from being able to build depth through a reserve grade.

Agree with above comments - the three different levels of competition has attracted many players to lace up the boots and created great interest in clubs fielding senior teams . If you're a talented player you have 1st grade, if your a loyal clubman you can still play with your club in Reserve Grade and 3rd grade is great for the single team clubs that aren't presently up to 1st grade standard. Also clubs are promoting under 18's as their the future 1st graders. That is - there's a suitable grade for all players who want a game. We shouldn't bow to idiot spectators - who exist in both Wests and Group 6 but I do concede there are more idiots in Wests. If Wests and Group 6 part company then within 2 years we'll be back to a 6 team Wests A grade with 2 or 3 strong clubs and Group 6 will see the not so strong clubs suffer (eg just ask Moss Vale - 20 years between drinks with plenty hard times in between).

Highlander you should put your emotion behind you reality is that a joint comp is the only way this region will survive and produce or attract players of any note, in regard to the paddock at Robertson it should have money and time spend as the playing surface has been a danger to players for many a year it's a wonder that more injuries have not occurred.

Im sorry Camden But no i will not I WILL ALWAYS support whats i the best interst of my family and club and ATM driving to Campbelltown to cop do-do mate you are more than welcome to that If you think that a merger of bigger regions is in the best interst of the Camden/Macarthur region thats fine your opinion is yours to keep.

Why not give the CLUBS the choice to choose where they want to play!!! It would be sorted out easily

Mate Inregards to robbo Mate its a private ground buggered if i know how you could improve it the Robbo show use it aswell but not being affilated with the Spuds i wouldnt know what to do to be honest!!

I find it dissapointing you feel that way Highlander but on the other hand I understand, I have always worried about my kids going to a senior game in the wests juniors, it's obvious you havnt attended a game at Waminda this year, we try to make it a family day and even go to the extreme of having jumping castles for the kids, :correct: the only incident we had was when another Campbelltown club played at our ground and there supporters went ferral, :fight: the club wasn't city by the way, We have had alot of Group 6 officials present at our home games and alot of them have walked away impressed with the crowds and how we set the ground up, :drink: our ground isn't the best but we do what we can to make it pleasent, we have been told by another council regarding our ground "you can pit lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig" like I said "we do the best we can"

That is correct, the combined competition is officially over, some heads should roll for this, actually a board should be stood down imediatley, and we know what board, I fear what will happen to the decent clubs of Campbelltown!

Really!
Man that is a major set back imo. Yes there were still some issues that need to be resolved, but overall having a larger competition really helped to spark life into local league.

So is this a fall out between Wests Juniors and Group 6 or was it the clubs that decided this?

At the meeting tonight the decision was unanimous. It's propably the first time in two years that the management and the clubs have been in agreement.

The Group 6 clubs are entitled to their opinions on how they structure their competition but from All Saints at Liverpool our senior club will be gutted. No one wants to return to the Wests A grade days but we will have no choice other than to play Wests A grade or fold. It will be interesting to see Wests reaction. Whilst some say certain Wests clubs may be invited to play in Group 6 - I believe Wests will not allow this to happen.

There is a choice, stand up and grow a spine! You would let your club fold instead of going into bat against the Junior League, this is why the Wests Comp has gone the way it is because too many clubs out here have no guts! We maybe labelled as trouble and had everything thrown at us but If you stand up for what is right in Rugby League you will come out on top at the end, NSW Club of the year, say no more, We will again go it alone, see you later!

Terrible Terrible news and a major step backwards...

Yes i understand there were issues with player behaviour and other things but rather then come closer together to work through them and make the competition better we bury our head in the sand and walk away...

Just when i thought senior football in this area was about to get better...

I think we all have to remember its AGM time , and if the management did not change things they know they would be voted out.

So i wonder where this leaves Wests teams... We all know what the West Junior leagues organisation has been like in regards to senior comps in the past, will we be given an idea on what they plan to do soon or will we find out 2 weeks before the new season is about to start??

I wonder where this leaves the group 6 3rd grade clubs, Appin,Bowral & Warragamba? Remember there was no Mt Annan this year. Hardly enough to form a 3rd grade comp will they be forced to field unattached first or reserve grade sides next year??

Stu

We have been informed there would be 6 maybe 7 team third grade with Bowral Warra Appin and Mt annan robbo entering teams with Narellan and another club (unsure who) Have indicated having a third grade to go with there 1sts and Res .

Otherwise they would be placed in reserves which is what we would prefer to have local games to draw the crowds.
