Would this be the two divisions in the competition proper? Last posting I looked at regarding Warriors, they never had a team, is this true Warrior 78? Also noted LCC has two teams, again reading this forum, they where quoted having Reserve Grade only and that was posted by All Saints, is there any club to add to the list or is this the 1st grade 6 and Res 6, is anyone concerned that you only have 12 teams participating in 9's, you need a further 10 players for one team, or 20 odd players for two teams,

Teams playing in the 9's can register 15 players per squad and I'd imagine most will due to the heat, injury etc. As the 9's runs on a Saturday from 2pm to 9-30pm many players are also unavailable due to work and pre-arranged social commitments eg weddings, etc. I heard Warriors had 20 at training last week and will field a Reserve Grade team in 2011. Also heard LCC had 20 plus at training last week. Also in 2011 Warren McDonnell from Wests Tigers NYC will give excess players and players returning from injury a run in the Wests A Grade competition rather than Group 6. McDonnell indiated this could be as high as 3 or 4 players per club but I'd guesstimate 1 or 2 per club. Wests officials are possibly looking at 6 1st Grade with 6 Reserve Grade plus under 18's. Something to build on for future years.

I can't speak for all players or all clubs but I know the lads from Hillier are keen to have a run in the 9's. None of them have ever played this variation of the game. Our veteran player "The Big Show" is like a kid in a candy shop. After 10 seasons in the green and gold he's really looking forward to the day. Maybe it's the 9 minute halves that's the most appealing. I know if he throws and dummy and splits the line with 90 metres to run he'll pass over the sideline or fake a hammy. Some wags would ask "whats changed".

Yeah All Saints, our boys are pumped... Will be even more pumped now knowing that we are confirmed with a 2nd side...

Can't wait till next weekend when all the do-do offseason stuff will be out of the way and we can get down to playing some footy...

do you have this in writting from Mr Mcdonnell, if not you should not be posting his name to this.
If anyone beleives that wests would send there so called future league players back to nothing
more than a third grade comp you are sadly miss taken. even i am not silly enough to beleive this.
you are talking about the players that wests consider there elite, they will send them to a comp that
is suitable, that aint the wests comp.
Could you please post his letter that confirms this or is this more rubbish. I also think the moderators
should look more closely at people posting things on here using other peoples names, as i have never
met this bloke, i do know who he is but i have now formed an oppinion of him due to this posting.
By the way who is this bloke, i have been informed that he is the wests recruitment officer.

PS: Why cant we here this from Mr McDonell

as for your comment, (Im not claiming nor have i ever claimed that we will win) i never claimed you said that

as for the coment about nyc players,. if all saints is correct my oppinion is that this would not help there careers
they would be better off playing in a more suitable comp.
Just my oppinion.

I am pretty sure Warren McDonnell was at the meeting last year when we were advised of the split of the Combined comp
and from memory he did say back then also that they would concider allowing teams in the Wests competition to utilise excess players and players returning from injury from what I understood as their support to help strengthen the competition if reconciliation couldnt be made
At the time I thought it to be a bit of a stretch and pie in the sky really to expect these caliber players to play for our local teams but he did say it.
I dont really think All Saints is the type of bloke that would pull this kind of info and out of backside and mention names without something backing it :finger: when we all know the powers that be keep track of all that is said on this forum.

I worked closely with All Saints last year at All Saints, and can say thay he would not write anything on here that he does not believe to be true. If the NYC guys dont play in our comp it will be contradictary to what he would have been told and he does attend all West's meetings, so his info would come from there.
Last year Tigers sent us Lance Siataga and Tim Simona so the fact that West Tigers are sponsering the 9s would indicate they are behind the West competition and would probably do the same again.

I think the fact that the Tigers are showing support for this comp may strengthen it and attract even more players.

I would be good for the morale of all players Wests and G6 to think that Tigers officials maybe out there watching and looking for talent and hopefully this is the case.

Common sense would tell you that it's in Wests Tigers interests to ensure Wests have a viable senior competition. Statistics show juniors are always cheaper buys for football clubs compared to imported players. Mr McDonnell did in fact make that statement - I was at the meeting. He doesn't have to put it in writing. A real show of support by Wests Tigers for the Wests senior competition. I'm sure most Wests senior clubs are not depending on these Wests Tigers players and if they play it will be a bonus. Some people whinge that Wests don't help the juniors - well Wests Tigers have come to the party with prize money for the 9's tournament. That's a good start. If excess Wests Tigers players return to their junior clubs or non juniors are allocated a club it will hopefully add to the competition. Some people on this forum whinge that the Wests senior competition will not have quality players - well maybe the addition of a few Wests Tigers players will help raise the standard. Only 6 more sleeps to the Wests 9's tournament - which is structured exactly the same as the successful Cabramatta International 9's tournament. Ps. My apologies to "The Big Show" in my earlier post, as whilst he has worn the green & gold for 10 years in A Grade it's actually 25 years in total at All Saints.

As advised by Wests in their email to the clubs: "Firstly I’m very please to advise that the Wests Tigers will be sponsoring our inaugural 9’s Competition in the way of prize money for the winners of the Bowl, Plate & Cup. On behalf of all of us we thank the Wests Tigers for their full support."

It didn't mention the actual amounts.
