Teams playing in the 9's can register 15 players per squad and I'd imagine most will due to the heat, injury etc. As the 9's runs on a Saturday from 2pm to 9-30pm many players are also unavailable due to work and pre-arranged social commitments eg weddings, etc. I heard Warriors had 20 at training last week and will field a Reserve Grade team in 2011. Also heard LCC had 20 plus at training last week. Also in 2011 Warren McDonnell from Wests Tigers NYC will give excess players and players returning from injury a run in the Wests A Grade competition rather than Group 6. McDonnell indiated this could be as high as 3 or 4 players per club but I'd guesstimate 1 or 2 per club. Wests officials are possibly looking at 6 1st Grade with 6 Reserve Grade plus under 18's. Something to build on for future years.
do you have this in writting from Mr Mcdonnell, if not you should not be posting his name to this.
If anyone beleives that wests would send there so called future league players back to nothing
more than a third grade comp you are sadly miss taken. even i am not silly enough to beleive this.
you are talking about the players that wests consider there elite, they will send them to a comp that
is suitable, that aint the wests comp.
Could you please post his letter that confirms this or is this more rubbish. I also think the moderators
should look more closely at people posting things on here using other peoples names, as i have never
met this bloke, i do know who he is but i have now formed an oppinion of him due to this posting.
By the way who is this bloke, i have been informed that he is the wests recruitment officer.

PS: Why cant we here this from Mr McDonell
We were lucky to get 3 or 4 players for Bundy cup last year for the Eagles, even then some players pulled injuries or weren't interested in playing Bundy cup, what are they going to do if they get sent to a RSL side that will get 80 put on them by Minto, don't think they will be too interested in playing, how good is Minto looking, I can see another year 2000 when Minto went through and hammered the comp going undefeated, Minto should join group 6 they look that good!

By the way, West Magpies prem league get first option of the N20's players, they then send there excess to Group 6, figure that one out, will any club see a N20 player? And if your son was contrated to Tigers N20's, how would you feel if he was sent to some club that couldn't even supply strapping or a strapper, I know what I would say!

Also, anyone that said the Eagles, Roos and Bulls wouldn't play group 6, how wrong was you!

Group 6 have always had an arrangement with wests magpies & tigers in relation to obtaining excess players and delegating them to struggling teams, its been going on for years .

If NSW cup get first crack then Group 6 what does that leave for wests clubs? Will it be only thier junior players returning from rep duties perhaps - also hear minto will be strong also and are being trained by the Paea brothers from roosters and bulldogs and will be a tough ask for any young side this year to compete against - hopefully we dont see to many teams fold or forfiet to stronger stacked teams and the point system works for all although minto have some strong juniors returning so most will be 2 point players.
I think it was all relevant as to the the strength of the competition in relation to development to the player. Wests havent had a strong competition for sometime so any excess players needing a run came out to a group 6 club delegated by group 6 management. They would get cleared from NSWRL to group 6 then if they got called up would be cleared back. Obviously after June 30 these players had to stay in NSW cup. I remember Daine Laurie for example playing a few games for Narellan back in 2008 .

Well over the week-end at a local, i could not help but laugh at a certain member from Minto who was sky-larking how easy Minto will win the West's comp this year, i was equally amused how he also stated that they beat any team in Group 6. Recent posting's would indicate that they are stacked with former Valley boy's, and if memory serves me correct, didnt they neglect to enter 1st grade in the year they won 2nd grade.

I hope for the sake of the west's comp that the officials monitor there points system very closely, rumours of strong juniors returning and the inclusion of the Valley boy's could serve up a comp with only one horse in it.

Maybe Minto should trial a group 6 1st grade team like Oakdale,Easts, Moss Vale or Picton and back up their mouths

Saturday should give some indication of if Minto is just blowing smoke. These Minto/Valley guys are too cocky to just lay down and "take it easy" I know the All Saints boys are quietly confident.

From what we can see, minto look to be in a very strong position. If they have got a large contingent of valley players they will be a very good side. That said, I think some people are forgetting that alot of these players were also at valley when they were smashed in their lasts Wests comp grand final by ingleburn bulldogs.

Bulldogs are long gone and that team is all now spread across Group 6 clubs.
Im certain this isn't the case. Yes bulldogs may be gone but the point is there should be enough good players around to at least compete with minto. Minto will have the added benefit of having a side that has played together for a few seasons which is a huge plus for them.
I highly doubt minto will showcase all their talent in the pre season comps. They will know that if they do and they do in fact flog everyone in their path then Wests or nsw may look to place them in a stronger competition. History would indicate that making them play in a stronger competition that would challenge them would not sit well with these players at all. Lol.

I believe most Wests clubs don't really want to nominate who is or who isn't playing for them in 2011 as the vultures are circling already and they don't need any encouragement. As Mad Tiger has said all will be revealed when the competition starts. I spoke with someone in the know re Minto and he advises that a lot of former Minto players that are mates have come back to play in 2011. Remember a champion team beats a team of champions. Only three more sleeps until the Wests 9's. So if you really want to know who is or isn't playing for a Wests club in 2011 it will only cost you $5 from 2pm to 9-30pm - value for money.

rumor i have heard is trent barret is in negotiations with the roos can anyone confirm this,
if true this would be due course, because of there captain drew doulton, i have heard he
has heaps of players at his disposal, i have heard the only hitch will be points.
if this is true how good would this be for the group 6 comp, as we know they did fit in
maguiness, kennedy, toa, ronny & the big pom & others, so they do have pulling power.
