All Saints 1s won their first 2 games and so did Minto. Minto look strong and Titans look young and quick. Eaglevale have also grown in strength. All Saints play Minto about 7.20pm in a play off and looks like the the winner of that should go on to take out the title. But anythings possible. Minto certainly look like the side to beat. |

I attended the 9's today, hard to get excited as defence isn't a priority, it's bloody funny, I was next to All Saints and asked him if I could sit on the Fence, (being piss funny) and he told me I had to stay behind the Fence, didn't get the joke! I was their with my Dad and we left at about 5pm after Minto played Pirates, another joke, Minto won 18-14, Pirates need to recruite, they had no size in height but some of there players where rounder than taller, I'm very funny tonight! It was an ok day, but why can't you buy a beer? Is it because it is run by a junior League? Boiling hot day and no beer! That's probably why it was a poor crowed! Mostly players watching. Dad and I than went to Camden to watch city, good game for a first hit out by both teams, city won 2 tries to 1 but that's rugby league, good defence in high temperatures, talking of Funny, dad bought a pie and was on his 6th beer, walking back from the club house hit tripped, done 2 rolls down the hill, landed on his pie, but didn't spill his drink, funniest thing I have ever seen, crowed thought it was hilarious! Thank god the footy is back! |

Liverpool City Council were advised re the floodlights. Council confirmed twice in writing that the lights would remain on until 10-30pm (I have the emails to prove it). Unfortunately the way the draw worked our the Minto v All Saints semi was the real final. Overall the day was a success. Fence Sitter - I don't remember the conversation - maybe you have me mixed up with another at All Saints. Liked the story re your dad - he has his priorities right. |

Yeah, disappointing regarding the lights. I think the best part of today was that we had 4 teams prove that there would be a competitive A grade this year. And in regards to people saying Minto had a second string team, they had a lot of their top players, so i think these ideas are false [= |

Some one forgot to mention the final was stopped for about a 40 minute due to the fact some poor bloke from ESA had to be taken to hostpital with possible neck/spine injury. The lights were booked for 10.30pm but someone at council got that wrong and turned them off at 10pm. All Saints played Minto in the semi and after leading 10 nil after about 6 mins Minto got flustered and resorted to the old way to win. Couldn't work out the decision that turned the game though, Minto's 7 was sent to the bin for a bit of biff and then Minto got the penalty in front of the posts which they managed to score a six pointer. It was a pity Minto resorted to these tactics as they showed all day they are the side to beat without them. Final score Minto 14 All Saints !0 |

Rooke, when we have a comp of 6 teams, 4 competitive teams in the first stand alone season in a few years is a good starting point. Haha. I know Maverick, I know. Which team were you with? |

Everyone knows that, my son plays for All Saints. As a referee can you shed any light on why Minto were given the penalty when they had their player sent off ? Edited by Maverick, Feb 27 2011, 09:34 AM.

In terms of that decision, I wouldn't be able to tell you as I wasn't the referee for that game, nor was i really watching (i was enjoying a steak sambo!). I would imagine that there may have been an indiscretion by All Saints, and then stevie got involved. Original penalty to minto, but Stevie goes to the bin to cool down. Please note that this isn't necessarily what happened, just an idea for what may have happened. What number where you/what do you look like etc? Should be good getting to know players again. |

I thought all refs did a good job on the day. I agree with you, Minto had 15 good players there and they were not laying down. Can any body name the Minto players to watch for that were not at the game? P.S I dont have a number as I dont play. (too old) but I did see a LCC player that was no spring chicken playing. |
