Robertson returns to Group 6 http://www.southernhighlandnews.com.au/news/local/sport/rugby-league/robertson-returns-to-group-6/2054182.aspx AFTER a few years away, Robertson's seniors are returning to the Group 6 fold. Seniors coach Craig Pemberton is also returning to the club after a stint at Albion Park and is hoping to have a good season this year. With a number of players leaving the club to play elsewhere when Robertson were unable to field a senior team in Group 6, Pemberton hopes they can attract those players back this year.He said they would need around 20 permanent players in the team for the entire season in case of injury and to prevent having to draw from the club's junior teams. After their first training session on Tuesday night, Pemberton said it was looking good for the team, with a number of players attending and eager to get training under way. Pemberton said Doug Tilley was currently the team's mainstay and there was still room for more players to join.He said they were also trying to make it a more family orientated club, and wants to see family and friends at the games. Training will be at Hampden Park on Tuesday and Friday nights starting at 6pm.Anyone wanting to join the side can contact Pemberton on 0418486 875. Edited by disco stu, Jan 21 2011, 04:57 PM.

You certainly are well informed for a newcomer beach bum. Matt Blunden was approached by Easts to come back to his original club. He was coached by "Devil" when he was just 14, he played 14s,15s, Bundy Cup and A Grade with Easts. This would make him a good buy as I think he would be a 2 point player. Can any one confirm this? His younger brother Tim was also invited to come with him. Tim was training with The Bulldogs NYC for 2 years but didn't get a start through a serious knee injury. I am unsure if Tim will follow as he has a many good mates playing for All Saints and a coach that he respects highly. But I am sure he will keep his options open. |

LOL! No chance. This would have to be his junior club to gain the 2 point value. Considering he only played 2 years there i doubt this would be considered his Junior Club, because the rules state, that if a player has more than 1 junior club, his junior club will be classed as the club at which he played the majority of his football. However he is a good buy because he will only be a 10 point player, because All Saints are no longer in the comp. |

Matt never stayed at any junior club for more than 2 years, so how does the points work there? does it include A Grade sides as well? |

The rule doesn't apply to seniors. Example, Oakdale's Graeme Martin will play his 7th year at Oakdale this year, this is the longest service he has given any club, including his junior club Camden. However his service has not been consecutive, he played at The Oaks 2nd Division in 2008, and played Rugby in 2009 and due to this he is not entitiled to the 2 point status. I would say Mat would be a 2 point player, not only starting his rugby league career at our club, I was sure he played there for 3 years, I will look it up, he has also played A Grade at our club which will help with the qualifacations committee, 2 or 10 we will fit him in. |

Matt started playing league 14s, 15s Easts,16s Hinchinbrook, 17s,18s AllSaints, 3 years C Grade Moorebank Rams, 1 year A Grade Moorebank Rams, 1 year Mounties A Grade/ Jim Beam, 1 Year Easts Bundy/ A Grade, Moorebank A Grade, All Saints A Grade and 2011 Easts again. I believe that would make his first 2 years at Easts the deciding factor in his points value and should be a 2 point player unless C grade (U/21s) is counted as juniors. Any feed back? |

Would be best to ask the powers that be. But because he has played JBC for Mounties & Easts i think you will find he may even be 40, remember it goes back 3 years. So will Easts have to give up a signing? |

Just looked this up... Category – E2 POINTS – Per player •Locally developed players and local players returning to their Junior Club regardless of status or grade previous. Note – Definition of a local player; •where a player commenced his rugby league participation from under 6’s to under 16’s•Majority of years played at junior club – under 6’s to under 16’s •Should the majority be equal between clubs – Local Club will be deemed the players’ first registered club•3 Consecutive years with the club – Under 18’s and above It would seem to me with this rule definition above that it would class him as a 2 point player. It would appear so. It's not something that Oakdale has to worry about, due to no junior club I can see massive flaws in the points system again, now that Easts are in G6. Massive junior base, it dwarfs Picton & Camden, let alone places like The Oaks |

You would be surprised TC, our junior base is not that big, probably the same size as your Camdens or Picton clubs, we are half the size in juniors when it comes to clubs like LCC, ESA and Collies, we are happy just to fill every age group from 6's to 16's as juniors is about kids playing sport! We will work in with Group 6 on any issues that sees us on an uneven playing field, I do understand your predicament and I must admit it must be hard for you guys every year to work out your points, we also had a points system with Bundy cup, but again it wasn't that hard for us, a club like Mounties had over 180 points in player signings and you could only use 100, it did make the comp even. Going on last years comp, I think the points system is working but it can always be improved! |

I was merely speaking about geographics. however, i think you will find an increase in your junior numbers from now on though. |
