Well done to Oakdale congatutulations are certainley in order. It was a great game that could have gone either way but it went Oakdales way in the end. With only minutes to go (and 18-16) Eagles could have scored up the middle to go in front and almost certainly seal a win for them but a breakaway not regathered by Easts allowed a scrum feed to Oakdale and a few sets later Oakdale scored giving them the match. You could say the match was won on that bounce of the ball. I thought the Eagles had more attacking raids but Oakdale defended well over and over. Still well done to Eagles who were the best side all year but not today.

They won my friend, they got a chance to prove themselves at a high level even with all the roadblock you put in front of them, they represented campbelltown with pride, our real representative side.

Grand Final 1st Oakdale Workers 24 def Campbelltown Eagles 16

The Group 6 Country Rugby League Grand Finals was played at Kirkham Park Camden with the Eagles matching up to arch rivals Oakdale, The Eagles posted first Points through a try to Lale Neemia and Stephen Harding converted to go to an early lead 6-0, Oakdale then hit back with 2 tries and went to a 12-6 lead, The Eagles scored next when Stephen Harding crashed over out wide but missed the conversion to bring the game back 12-10 Oakdale scored a try in the corner that game them a 8 point led 18-10 with 13 minutes remaining, The Eagles scored another try next to the post when a cleaver kick from Sam Hoare seen Sean Connor dive on the ball and Harding converted and it was any ones game at 18-16 with 7 minutes remaining, with 3 minutes on the clock the Eagles looked like they might of stole the game when Hooker Sam Hoare charged down a Oakdale kick and was 30 meters out with daylight in front of him, it was a gallant effort but he knocked the ball on, Oakdale put the game in any doubt scoring just before full time to run out winners 24-16 in a amazing game played in very hot conditions. Best for the Eagles were John Da Silva, Stephen Harding, Samuel Hoare and Jarryd Eggleton.

Grand Final Reserve Grade Campbelltown Eagles 24 def Mittagong 0

The undefeated Reserve Grade Eagles took on Mittagong in the Reserve Grade Grand Final, The Eagles took no time in putting points on the board from the very first set of six, Aaron Egan was rewarded with the try when he got a favourite bounce that seen him score, The Eagles put all the pressure on the young Lions with a strong wind behind them the Eagles maintained all the field possession, The Eagles scored their second when captain Ravi Prakash put Ratha Heak through the gap to score out wide. The Eagles went into half time 8-0
The second half seen the Eagles score in the opening minutes when Mike Fetui scored next to the posts and Mathew Gowman converted to go 14-0, Mittagong then attacked the Eagles but the Eagles defence was outstanding holding the Mittagong side out, the Eagles 10 meters out from there line they spread the ball wide to see Theo Leato run 90 meters to score under the posts and Gowman converted to get the game to 20-0, the Eagles then had two players put in the sin bin for 10 minutes leaving them down to 11 men, The team dug deep to hold on against the onslaught of attack from Mittagong but the Eagles again scored to get a certain match winner when Jimmy Laullili crossed the line, the Eagles finishing Undefeated Premiers for 2011 Best for the Eagles were Josh Slater, Fred Tevega, Ratha Heak, and Trent Heath. With Ravi Prakash getting the Best and Fairest award.

Im just proud of the boys, They are a great buch of blokes and they played there guts out. I must admit it has to be one of the easiets teams I've had to coach, plenty of youth and enthusiasm and to go undefeated tops of a great year, thanks heaps fellahs and will start pre season soon.

Pardon me for spruiking, great day for the town and club. Great to see so many players go out on such a high. Group 6 belongs to it's original members, not the outsiders. Lol

Dad told me today that a coach from Collies 2010 will lead your team into the Group 6 first Grade for 2012, how exciting is that, he will also bring some fine young talent from the Collies team that took ESA on in the Grand Final, is that correct Doggiesgirl?

I thought it was the other way around Appin to Collies to be coached by de bono i think his name is :dunno: If Appin do stay after winning 3rd grade 2 years in a row surely its time for the club to field 1st res in 2012 another year in 3rd grade and they look like just wanting to be mercinaries just wanting to win lower divisions.
