Congrats Macarthur Bulls, looking forward to watching a few of your games.

Where will you be playing out of? As I know you are training at Minto, with the hope to move to possibly Oran Park in the future?

To have a club look to Oran park and get in before anyother codes will be a godsen IMO

We need to strike in these massive areas for growth of our group!!

Id love to see more areas as they grow being looked Ie Douglas park ,Buxton/hilltop and bingara gorge forming Jnr clubs soon in the future

Bulls have submitted to play out of Onslow Park for this season and we are yet to start official training anywhere,we have had a few sessions at varies locations in both Macarthur and Cambelltown and Camden areas same as you see any church group or vollyball playing social gatherings and we will be annoucing our training intentions shortly once our public liabilty is ratified and received- we are very confident of playing and training out of Oran Park in 2012 after establishing this season,we have had some road blocks but we will be playing in Group 6 this year and for many years to come :correct: I would really like to thank all Group 6 clubs for thier support and making us feel welcome it has been fantastic

Fantastic!

Well done guys. I often visit Camden so I might drop in and watch you run around on the grounds I used to train on when I played juniors for the Rams.

I wonder if the G6 clubs would change their votes about Easts & City, if they are not allowed to train and play within the Campbelltown Region? If this is the case, where will these 2 teams conduct their business from?
It's great for the viability of the comp to have Campbelltown, as long as the G6 boundaries are changed to include Campbelltown. I don't like the idea of them moving in on area's like Mt Annan, Narellan or Camden however. There is plenty of room in the area's of Menangle, Douglas Park, even a club like Appin could use a hand. I think it's perfect timing for the Bulls to setup camp out in Oran Park when it becomes available.

Yeah true, but i think then that those clubs will suffer. These teams will struggle, because apparently the rule states they have to train & play withing boundaries. So if they are based at Wilton, all of a sudden those guys that are playing for their local team which is 5 minutes up the road, are now travelling to Wilton.

LOL it was Yesterday the AFL were there with the Sydney Swans and Yes Galvo :worship: :worship: had the banner up there for that reason!!

We had a meeting with the goodsports company (Yes were copying MV :correct: ) and i was there at 5 30 for that and when i arrived in my gear the looks were worth it the AFL were not to impressed by it i can confirm!!...

Alot of our senior boys turned up early to submit a united front that THIS is the home of rugby league since 1926!!!! They have lit a fire in this club there starting to get that we wont go away that is why im hearing Lackey is going to be a AFL ground in the future!

Comment of the day had to be one of our centers to a swans player

Swan "You guys play aussie rules"
Bowral lad" Nah were not soft C@$k%"

The one comment i will make is the all the AFL development people all looked nerdy geeky types the adults looked like they never played sport in there life and are buying the safer footy code do-do.
On the footy side of things we had 18 turn up last nite and annouced Moss Vale stawalt Terry fish as Coach with Bowral life member Greg Moore assistant :correct:

Leading from the paddock

THIRLMERE/TAHMOOR'S Group 6 first grade rugby league team will put their hope in rookie coach Adam Sheppard this season.
In his first year of coaching, Sheppard, 27, has chosen to lead his team while still on the paddock.

Sheppard hopes to make this season a career-ending high for more than half of the team who plan to retire.

Joining the Roosters last year, following several seasons with Wests Illawarra, he believes his role as player-coach has some pros and cons.

"As a player-coach I feel you earn the respect of the players as you are working hard alongside the playing group at both training and on game day," Sheppard said.

"They know that you wouldn't ask anything of them that you wouldn't do yourself.

"On the flip side it's a little harder to coach as you can't observe the team the same way you can from the sideline.

"You have to rely on feedback from others, which shouldn't be a problem because I have very capable support in Scott Keane and James Towerton."

Playing as prop, Sheppard hopes to instil professionalism, commitment and discipline in the team.

If successful, he is confident the Roosters can produce a team to challenge for the premiership, despite losing a few key players in the off-season.

"We will play to our strengths and work on the weaknesses exposed by the opposition," Sheppard said.

"I am confident we will be title contenders.

"For a lot of us this will be our last season.

"We have all decided that we will go round once again and all try to finish our careers on a high.

"I came to Thirlmere to finish football alongside friends and we weren't happy the way we finished last year, so we want to do it right this time around."

The Roosters have been working on their defence and fitness in pre-season training, in their bid to improve on last year's performances.

Sheppard has been encouraged by the commitment and enthusiasm shown during some tough training sessions.

"But it's hard to complain when you're out of breath," he said.

"The goal for our team this year is to finish in a position to have two shots at making the grand final.

"I think we have a good mix of youth and experience. We strengthened a few areas we needed to, but as a whole we are looking strong."

I hear the Oaks are buying hard, will they be premiership contenders? I have Oakdale as my favourites as I feel they will look at 2010 as the one that got away, is it true Camden has bought Shifty Sherwin? And who will be favourites this year? To hard to pick, going to be a great year!

Welcome to the forum gold nugget ,I think most clubs would like to field their strongest sides possible but sometimes just isn't the case. I remember last year Moss Vale had mainly their reserve grade side playing in the pre season as most of the first graders were unavailable due to cricket, weddings, work etc. Hard to police against situations like these.
