At the Group 6 AGM tonight, both Campbelltown City Kangaroos RLFC and Campbelltown Eagles RLFC were affiliated as Group 6 clubs. From City's standpoint, it's great to be affiliated again in the League that we belong in and played in from 1912- 1983.

Congratulations to all concerned.

But are their any legal or other ramifications from NSWRL doing this ???

Woohooo just had a read of the paper (chronicle) well done to Eagles and City for standing up for us, and thanks to G6 for the acceptance.

Your probably right Highlander, i have no doubt it will be a battle, but i have faith in the leaders of my club and i for one cant wait to start pre-season training.

Clubs keen to jump ship to Group 6 comp
RUGBY league in the Macarthur area has hit a crossroads with two Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League-affiliated clubs applying to play in the Group 6 competition next season.

The applications were due to be heard at the Group 6 annual general meeting last night.

The defection by Campbelltown City Kangaroos and East Campbelltown Eagles follows the decision by Group 6 to bail from the combined senior competition with Wests in 2011, effectively leaving Wests without a credible A grade competition next year.

It is believed another two Wests clubs are also considering their position for next season.

The joint competition was established in 2009 and this year hit a high point with about 60 teams playing in A grade through to the under-18s.

But behind the scenes it was unravelling as both Wests and Group 6 administrators failed to see eye-to-eye on several issues including refereeing and judicial matters. At an extraordinary meeting on October 5 Group 6 clubs and other interested parties voted unanimously to have a stand-alone competition next year. Kangaroos and Eagles officials believed they owed it to their players to push ahead with retaining their ties to Group 6.

It is understood the Kangaroos have established a “new” senior club and the Eagles are using their non-affiliated Bundaberg Red Cup team to apply for Group 6 membership, to overcome their affiliation with Wests.

Campbelltown City president Heath Attard said the Kangaroos were a Group 6 foundation club and found themselves in the Western Suburbs district when boundaries were redistributed in 1984.

“At a special meeting of our club in October, our life members, members and players voted 32-0 to pursue the possibility of remaining in the Group 6 competition. It was simply a vote to guarantee our survival as a senior club,” he said.

East Campbelltown were also adamant about their decision to affiliate with Group 6. President Daniel Draper said it was an easy decision.

“In 26 seasons, the local junior league body has been unable to run a senior competition that even comes close to rivalling Group 6 and we aren’t taking a backward step,” he said.

So does that mean that Bundy is on its last legs? I hear that Drew Dalton has defected from Mounties for sizable $ to C/City and has more that want to follow him.

I also "heard" that Mounties want to sink their money into the new West Sydney AFL side not Bundy.

At the moment the Eagles plans are similar to the 2010 season, we will wait and see what is ahead in the coming weeks and what support we receive!

I hope Drew does bring players with him, because as a victim of the points this year, i can assure you Oakdale will be watching very carefully.
Drew being a 40 pointer
He usually gets his brother Anthony a start in a side so there's another 40.

I was talking to some one last night that knows Drew closely and was told although he has verbally agreed to play with City but it's still not 100% And yes if he comes then his brother will too.

And as far as the points go, well thats the first thing I thought about when I was told. But City managed their points well early this year when they had their star studded lineup.

Has any one heard of any changes to the points system for 2011?

From what Ive heard the points system will operate similarly to this year, 300 points however if a player of reserve grade standard from a club within group 6 transfers to another club, he will be declared a 10 pointer instead of the ridiculous 25 points of this year. What will be interesting is that if the two ctown teams take part in the group 6 comp next year, they will have to comply with our points system and not the flimsy wests juniors points debacle. I see Easts having no problem with this as they are a large, strong club with a plethora of juniors and local players, however ctown city, being a new club and looking to sign quality players ie, drew dalton, etc etc.... they will certainly have troubles staying under the cap as mentioned before he is a 40 pointer as is his brother.. not to mention any other nsw cup or bundy cup player he decides to bring along... going to be very interesting indeed!

Just remember city had 4 teams last season so they have plenty to pick from and proberly only need to sign a couple of players as They are the defending reserve grade premiers!! They will be strong.

You should ask the Wests Juniors, isn't that who you are aligned to.
